Kitchens are a big expense - especially the chairs so I would match them to the units - the set you showed matches the colours of the chairs with the units really well, BUT, 1. The pine top doesn't work and 2. You need to add a bit of pzaz to this space. You can paint or cover the pine top with whatever colours / textures you choose as accents then follow these colours through into the pictures and the odd accessory (but don't go mad and keep most of the kitchen utensils and tools in the same colour as the background so they 'disappear' - only use subtle accent colours on gorgeous items so they stand out). This way, if you get bored with your scheme you can just change the accessories and the table top colour rather than the whole lot. Feel free to email me for more help. Hi Kyle. Can you move the furniture you're selling into another room temporarily and try rearranging the furniture to see what space you're actually left with so you can measure it out properly? I might be wrong but it looks as if the only other place the sofa can go is in front of the sideboard, it looks by eye as if it would be too deep to go on the RHS of the fire? Has your partner actually found tables he likes?

I think it looks amazing. Here's a couple of ideas which will definitely make a statement... An antler chandelier would look great against the wallpaper - https://shabbystore.co.uk/white-antler-chandelier.html https://shabbystore.co.uk/polished-stainless-steel-tray-chandelier.html https://shabbystore.co.uk/small-silver-langan-chandelier.html https://shabbystore.co.uk/eichholtz-polished-stainless-steel-chandelier.html Hope these ideas help you. :)

I like the look of the hanging pendant lights but do think it will be a passing trend. Not least because of the practicality issue of non-directional light that you've already mentioned. I used wall lights in the spare bedroom to save surface space on the small bedside tables. They're only cheap £16 ones from IKEA but I think they look nice all the same and they swivel so you can use them directionally. We needed plug in ones which limited our options but I covered the white wire in grey electrical tape to help it blend with the wall colour. (These ones also come in antique brass now which I think would look lovely with a contrasting shade). http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/lighting/wall-lights/%C3%A5rstid-wall-lamp-nickel-plated-white-art-60163881/
