Triple glazing and acoustic glazing can actually be one in the same thing. Acoustic glazing is a make up of certain panes of glass to stop what ever decibel your trying to stop. You first have to work out the amount of noise you need to stop and then we can come up with an accounting value make up to stop the noise. chanti1, my grandparents used to have massive condensation problems with their double glazing as it was added as an afterthought, it had about a 4 inch gap and was not sealed so they would have to keep cloths in the gap to mop it all up. In my parents house there were a couple of windows prone to this problem between the panes - caused when the seal on the double glazed units failed. Because you can't get to it the result is eventually mould. The units had to be changed which to my mind seems drastic and wasteful. There should be a way of removing, cleaning and resealing units on site. Of course condensation happens with single glazing all the time. Where I live now we get condensation on the outside of the window at night. Air conditioning indoors and extreme humidity outside with night time temperatures still in the high twenties centigrade does that.

It probably would be more cost effective to do them all at once. I have renovated three houses from scratch and built an extension and I suspect the extension will cost more than you think and then you might not have the funds left to replace the windows. I would do the front windows, paint and new flooring now. Living with filth is not great, you need a clean space away from the future building works. I'm sure the window cost saving by waiting to do them all at once is negligable at best. Costs keep escalating so the sooner the better.

Hello, My house can get very warm in the summer months. I've improved the loft insulation and am now considering the benefits of replacing some of my 'Standard' Double Glazed panels with 'Solar Control' Double Glazed panels. Using the manufacturers configuration tools: - My current double glazed panels have a g-value / Shading Coefficient of 78% / 0.9 - One option by the same manufacturer have a g-value / Shading Coefficient of 43% / 0.49 - Another option by an alternative manufacturer have a g-value / Shading Coefficient of 38% / 0.44 I know we're talking very broad brushstrokes here, but does anyone have any experience or knowledge of solar control glazing and whether it can bee effective?
