window dressing a French window?
Comments (9)Hi Susie, you said above that you are going for a Roman blind and wanted some advice on the fitting. Below are some points to consider. You can buy Roman blinds with various backings. As this is your bedroom, ensure that it definitely comes with a blackout rather than a dimout backing. If it is surface-mounted (i.e., outside of the window frame) then less light will appear down the two sides of the fabric. If it is recessed, you are likely to experience more ‘light ingress’. You can choose to have it manually-operated (e.g., via chains made of plastic or metal beads) or remote-controlled (via mains or rechargeable batteries). Although a powered blind is more expensive, it is rather fun to operate it from the comfort of your bed. You can even have it opening and closing automatically at sunrise and sunset (or at other periods) via a timer that knows your longitude and latitude, or from abroad (for security reasons) via a smart phone if you are into technological living! Comments (11)There's another small one on the far end but this is the main radiator. Hmmm it's really interesting that your room is cosy as i've gone to trusty google and can't find anyone who says that radiators don't block the heat. It seems to be a big no no. I'm just so torn between function and fashion. I know it sounds silly. I think part of the problem is it is such a huge window that i would need more than one blind which would look a little odd. Then it isn't a usual height window in that it's quite close to the floor....See MoreWindow coverings for bay window with door
Comments (3)cordless conservatory blinds - look super clean and modern, come in lovely range of colours, no need for curtains, good for heat retention and you can pull them down from the top or pull them up from the bottom - the choice is yours, we have some in our house and love them...See MoreWould you add a window above kitchen window in this design ?
Comments (11)Looks like the majority is for window and my partner really wants one so just got to decide on size, love the photo and given the inspiration to sort that area out, we are replacing the paving slabs and won't go all the way to the wall so can plant some shrubs and maybe even a small tree to help make it look prettier, thanks for all comments, great forum as usual - onto my next dilemma which will be posting soon, many thanks all for taking time to reply, Lawrence...See MoreMarisol Garces
