Hi Hannah P Of course we would have to say that the best smart technology to have would be the whole hog! Have everything such as your lighting, blinds, audio visual and even heating all controlled from one place such as an iPad or your smart phone. But it all depends of course on how much of a budget you have to spend and how much you would be comfortable integrating in your home. Are you thinking of investing in some smart technology yourself? Smart technology doesn't have to involve a huge initial outlay as could could perhaps start with something small such as our Q Motion Blinds which can be fully controlled by an app on your smartphone or tablet allowing you to control your blinds as you wish.

There are lots of new and innovative smart technologies for the shower space from chromotherapy lights to add ambience, or bluetooth speakers to listen to your phone/tablet's music playlist in the shower.
Our biggest advice regarding smart home technology is; define your requirements before speaking to a professional such as ourselves as well as setting a budget. It is easy to get carried away with smart home technology as literally anything can be done but it's important to work our what is important for you, your family and your budget.
When you need to prioritise, then concentrate on over specifying the cabling (assuming you have the opportunity to install new cabling) and on lighting. Other areas of smart home can be added later on but having the correct cabling is essential
Hi Hannah, I've only just come across your comment - so hopefully we can help if you still have any queries.
In terms of investing in smart home tech it truly depends on what you want and how it can help you get the most out of your space.
Smart tech and home automation can be applied in so many different ways in a home so try to first identify a problem - for example if you always forget to turns the lights off there are lighting systems which let you control your lighting wirelessly or if you love hosting and entertaining friends/family at your home think about a home cinema or theatre set up.
