Rockpanel Cladding on Front Elevation - advice please

We are about to embark upon a house re-design - existing

and proposed plans attached. I am keen to use a Rockpanel Chameleon Cladding on the front of the house (which is on the beach) - this material changes colour depending on the effect of the light and the angle from which it is viewed (in this case blue to green to purple). Originally we thought to put the material in the middle of the house, however, this doesn't look right - so not sure. We will probably increase the 3 window/door panels on the left to four - all ideas gratefully received.

Hi, were currently in the process of choosing the type of front elevation style we should go with? Our preference is thin black slate lower and the use of some wood cladding with render above? The house will be glass linked to a redeveloped barn. Any advice would be much appreciated

I really like the combination of white render and stone. Rather than painting it white, have you considered using K Rend. These are self-coloured renders, with the benefit of never having to re-paint.

If you look at the 'black band', there are two air bricks in that area, typically they would be just above the oversite (the floor foundation) and a minimum of 6"(150mm) above the outside ground level. So the front garden most likely was higher and has subsequently been graded down to the drive, the garage floor is much lower than the house which is more or less at the same level as the house next door in the photo. As long as a planter feature stays at least two courses lower than the airbricks it would be fine, and would definitely improve the appearance of the windows being too high above the ground. My specs regarding air brick placement might be a little dated as I haven't built in the UK since the '90s and regs may have changed but the age of the house looks about right. The black band is probably what is left of a bituminous painted plinth that used to be common on many houses.

Morning! What a great house! Older properties were often added to over time, and sometimes the most beautiful entrance wasn't at the front, as the more attractive aspect was through a manicured garden...equally you would have the day to day access (which we tend to use more these days), and the fancy imposing entrance reserved for special occasions....confusing! In short, I think you should design it to be sympathetic to the architecture and history, but to suit your needs. We use multiple cars and park outside our front doors because carry our own shopping, the Victorians didn't! I think you need to consider the elevations as much as the internal plans, and develop a design in 3D to really understand the benefits you get from various options.
