We were thinking of using a herringbone 2x5" or 2"hexagon calacatta mosaic on the bathroom floor with larger format (18x30ish) porcelain marble effect tiles on the wall. Great pointer about tile depth! I actually have a question about your Denver project as we're considering to use a freestanding bath vs. inset bath in a similar layout (bath and shower sharing a wall). Not sure if I have enough space for a freestanding bath and wondered how close the freestanding bath should be offset from the walls? I might only have a couple spare inches on each short side and a bit more behind the bath for taps. Don't want it to look squeezed in!

I really like your herringbone tiles, am considering something similar so looking forward to more of your photos. I would go with painted behind the wall hung toilet as think it may get overwhelming with more tile. Where are your wall tiles from - they are a good combination of width and length?

We have a house in Spain with marble floors and have this issue in several rooms- we noticed the main areas after about 6 months but have had new areas emerge even 15 years later. We’ve had several specialists to look at it over the years and had explanation of oxidising, damp coming through, being laid on sand, sand walked on them, sea air, wrong cleaning materials ...We’ve had the floors specialist cleaned, ground and polished many times and it’s still there. I know some neighbours just replaced them with a less porous stone. Could you ask the marble supplier as I think you do need to avoid it pre installation not rely on being able to clean it afterwards.
