Any idea houzzer's what colour bar stools would fit with Purbeck Stone & Railings. Many thanks.

Mustard works very well with grey as an accent colour

However, if you prefer something different there are so many to choose from, and this is a great site to start with simplybarstools.co.uk

I'll be able to get one in a few weeks as the whole house has been renovated and the decorator has his pasting table and paints etc in there at the moment. I think the kitchen is beautiful but 'safe.' If it were me I would bust the budget on designer lights over the seating area, change the stools to Kartell Ghost/Masters/One More/ More Please stools and hang a large canvas on the wall directly behind the stools. She probably won't be able to match a colour to the units - the designer who designed my kitchen informed me post installation that the company purposely makes their colours virtually impossible to match up so that nothing can be mixed and matched from other companies! If you want a colour to match, match up with the handles - chrome and maybe think about a silver or very light grey blind. Its truly worth going to a professional interior design studio as their range of fabrics is phenomenal and they would be able to make the perfect window covering that would work a treat. In my home city there are dozens of places which offer this service and have a wonderful rage of blinds. I'm writing this presuming you want contemporary - if you have a bigger budget you could tile the wall opposite the sink with modern marble or slate tiles etc. If you want boutique - roman blind, crystal pendants and art and keep the current stools. Paint all white and make your art stunning (think the way art is displayed in a gallery on bright white walls.) I think you are looking for the 'wow' factor and that takes time - I have redesigned my bedroom 3 times and I posted on here for advice on my wall colours in my lounge - it's frustrating but worth it when you know you have the look!

HI, If your not keen on Dark colours then how about doing the panelling in a light grey which compliments your dining furniture and a Peachy Pink (don't be put off it looks fab with a grey colour). When it comes to using complementary colours, the important thing is to make sure they don't clash. Orange and blue when saturated clash horribly, but dark dull blue (your cupboards) would work beautifully with a dull desaturarted orange such as cognac as suggested by Minnie. As the white and blue and shiny surfaces will create a cool feel I would opt for a materials and colours that will create a contrast in feel and temperature for the lights such as a terracotta. Maybe a white table with wooden chairs. Hopefully these picture may give some ideas on how to use contrasts.

Hi Mairead I love your kitchen, I haven't been on here for a while so I might have missed previous photos but it's looking fabulous! Re bar stools what about something like this http://oandd.dk/portfolio/bar-stool/. I'm not sure how much they are but I think tan leather with railings looks amazing.

Love the kitchen mairead. Ours is v similar except sink in Island so it makes me v excited to see pics as its still a building site. I'm planning these ikea seats I think in mustard and cream

I'm needing some inspiration for a splash ask colour - thinking a copper mirror colour or black to blend with the benchtops.
The cupboards are a gold colour and I don't want to detract from them too much. Any ideas welcome :)

Hi Mairead - your kitchen is stunning! I'm facing a similar dilemma at the moment, my kitchen colours are similar to yours, and I'm also trying to decide on bar stools - will be following this thread with interest :-)

Another recommendation for bar stools on line is Atlantic Shopping - they have a huge range of styles......I just need to decide on one :-)

Btw - love the idea of mustard as an accent colour

Hi Orla thanks for your kind comments! I agree too love the mustard colour but also love the idea of Campo73 idea of tan leather & black stool. I've emailed the company to find out how much the stools are? I think they look very classy. Good luck in choosing, I'm sure you'll find something soon :))

I think the suggestion of mustard bar stools would look very nice against the contrast of railings. I have a purbeck stone kitchen too, but I went for white bar stools from simplybarstools.co.uk and I would definitely recommend both the chairs and the company.

Ouch Mairead that's expensive, you'd have to be completely in love with them to pay that much. They are gorgeous though, I like the rocket st George ones too.

Have a look on Atlantic Shopping (https://www.atlanticshopping.co.uk), they make great bar stools. We'd recommend one of these two (Ontario Walnut Bar stool or drift walnut & black bar stool). They are very nice and affordable (£75 & £89.99) :)
