The room which we would most likely refer to as a 'snug' (if at all) is 7.5 m x 4.5 m - which is the size of a living room to some people, but it's the cosiest and snuggest of the two rooms and where we spend most time watching telly etc. So I agree that it's all a matter of perspective.

Thank you for your reply. Every house on this road seems mix designs so we just want something warm and welcoming. The neighbors near us is rather looks a bit bland. We also planned to stay here for a long time to come.

Thanks so much Minnie! I appreciate your eye for detail. The middle light is indeed centred to the sink . The ceiling pendants are dimmable and a more moody glow for eating at the breakfast bar, I hope that makes sense? They had to be quite close to the edge because we needed to fit a ceiling vent in - it's all quite a puzzle to make it fit! The plant in the glass shelf is going, and I love your suggestion of preserved stems as I've just been looking at some myself! As for the shelves - they are made in the same style / material as the focal point shelf, as well as the ladder that's hung up on the side (to allow access to the high cupboards) so I was hoping that having them would harmonise the peninsula area. (plus give me an excuse to display some plants / decorative jugs...) We are already fairly happy with the kitchen, so we're keen to avoid any missteps to undo the good work!

Hi Maria That's a shame, I've worked with fitters in the past that put far too many fixings in which is great when it comes to it being structurally sound but I always feel bad for the people that have to remove it in years to come! In my opinion, if the 3mm is secured on with 'no more nails' and pins then I can't see how it would lose its rigidity. I would put a line of no nails along the surface of each groove (not inside the groove but the top part) then push the cladding onto it until it won't go any further (maybe even use a rubber mallet), then just some small veneer pins up up the edges and in the middle - Make sure the pin heads are buried slightly so you can fill the holes afterwards. The other advantage of 3mm is you can hide the edge of it much easier as you can just sand a bevel onto the edge which hides the joint. You wouldn't need MR MDF here either with it being in a bedroom, once it is painted it is sealed. I have done a similar thing in my bedroom where I clad an existing unit in 6mm MDF (not moisture resistant) and it has stayed in the same condition 6 years later.
