Loo roll under or over?

Following on from a heated VP debate this morning.... do you place the toilet roll under or over when you're replacing the toilet paper?

Comments (7)@buildcloud Unfortunately, it is old cottage, with no corridor, neither entrance hallway. Entry right into the living room, which we have tricked a little already. Cannot add the hallway , the only other option would be to get the loo entrance on the other side, that would be from the living room? it wouldn't be comfortable solution anyway ... Unfortunately I don't have a full floor plan, but it is easy to imagine mirrored room (living room) to the kitchen and the current WC is located just under the stairs with the entrance off the kitchen.Hope it makes sense...See MoreDownstairs loo design - pipe/boxing issues
Comments (10)Have to say I’d be careful with that soil pipe layout - there’s a lot of bends for the waste to go round and if it’s all at floor level there’s not much of a drop for gravity to help things along. If you can’t swap the loo to the pipework end due to door being fixed, I think you should go with the half height boxing in/false wall as suggested above, to allow the soil pipe to drop quite a lot from loo to the other end. There can always be access hatches or cupboard doors built in to the false wall. (Indeed you will need a rodding point somewhere). That last angle is a bit of a pain isn’t it. Rather than a corner sink I think I would get a vanity cupboard built out to the same depth as the tall pipework boxing. Gives you somewhere to store spare loo roll etc. You have plenty of space there opposite the door. Comments (12)Thanks all for the input ☺️ yes I know lots of peeps want a downstairs loo so if we did go aheac and take it out I know for sure we’d have to reinstate before selling - also uk building regs woukd require us to put it back as house was only built in 2015- a so has to have a downstairs loo! it’s these very valid points that have me dithering about the whole thing! Would absolutely LOVE an extension or even conservatory off the living area but realistically cannot afford that for some years to come but i really want to do something to make me love the house a bit more! i really love the sightline from front door right down to the end of the garden so taking the living area wall down feels like it will only increase that nice feeling of openess when i come into the house. but it may be a mad idea!...See MoreHelp! Comments (5)I’m someone who always thought wall mounted toilet roll holders are the way to go. But my new bathroom has the toilet between a wall and the bath, so there’s no room. Between the toilet and the bath, about a foot or less higher than the floor, there’s a little shelf covering pipes, just large enough for a toilet roll, so it sits there. I reach for it when I need it and then pop it back. It works. So are we assuming that we all use the same principle when displaying our loo rolls? I have used a decorative bowl to store said rolls. There are other interesting ways too I have found..
And what about this one..
Okay.. he's a little one following the herd.. for under or over!
But.. I'm not sure I really care as long as there is some... after all we could (still) be using these! (And that's if we were lucky enough..
The humble loo roll is indeed a luxury....... All be it under or over.. : ))
