Sorry, I should have explained a little bit more. These are old units that I am simply moving. They are in very good condition. I have no problem with abandoning or not using some of the units. @ Jonathan that looks good. My intention is to get a 2400mm island as well. However, need to get these in first! @ Ellie I will do so when I have a chance a little later on! Thank you. The diagram I put up first shows the area where the units will go along with the window at the top. @rinq the larders are very tall. From memory they are approx 2.1m high. They both have openings of 1050mm for appliances. I havnt enquired about additional units but I'd much rather make the best out of what I have.

Hi Steve. Your reduced depth base units underneath the island overhang are difficult to access. Depending where you are buying your units from it maybe possible to get extra deep base units, the ones in the photo attached are 705mm deep. You then do not need access from the back. I would also suggest increasing the depth of your sink worktop to a minimum of 650mm. Depending on your choice of wall covering and the thickness of it you will find that most hobs will have a minimum required gap between the back edge and the wall, less than this gap will invalidate the guarantee. The extra deep worktop also makes it much easier to clean behind the sink/tap area and more importantly creates a useful channel behind your base units for the services. If you do this you need to extend the panel to the side of the oven housing to suit. This will also help to make the side by side Fridge Freezer look better, these are often much deeper front to back than the adjacent tall units and can look unsightly if they stick out too far. One more point about your island, if you take the suggestion of the deeper base units you do not need a 1200 deep worktop to ensure a suitable overhang for your stools. You often need to pay a premium to obtain 1200 deep worktop depending upon the material you choose.

I would go to a couple more kitchen suppliers to get them to design the space better, as I agree with you that it could be better - or maybe just collaborate with your existing designer and try out more layouts until you're happy. Avoid the big box stores, go to a local kitchen shop and they will design something better for free. Then decide which design you like and which kitchen company you like and figure it out from there. Alternatively, use the DIY Kitchens planner and design it yourself - or have a go anyway, it's an interesting process and might make you appreciate the designer's choices more. I would personally prefer the tall units along that side wall as it squares the room off more - and I've have them all the same depth, or have the larder cupboard in the middle of the run so it's more symmetrical which would make it less odd-looking. I'd change the stool seating to go around a corner rather than just two at the end. And I prefer sink on the island so I can see what's happening - I know a lot of people prefer hob on island, but I spend a lot more time at/around sink so I'd rather not be facing a wall - but that's personal preference. With the skinny shaker style I think that's more modern than traditional so I'd have all the wall units the same height - high enough to avoid getting in your way when at sink (or hob). But you could also replace some/all of those units with a shelf - or have a narrow shelf below the wall units.

I presume you can amend the dimensions otherwise what will you put in that 300mm space if you don’t have the larder unit there? I like both of them equally but a 300mm larder is not very wide. I would always try to plan a minimum of 500-600mm.
