Blinds help
1. BEDROOM
We'd like:
- sunlight to come in all day
- all day privacy from the neighbour who can see in at an angle
- blackout at night
( I was thinking voiles for day & blackout roller blinds for night. thoughts?)
* if you suggest curtains/ voiles let me know if they should reach the ledge or floor
LIVING ROOM
- what would you suggest we use for the door? Will be needed to reduce glare on tv
- what would you use for the main windows?

If you use curtains always do them to the floor, never look good if they are short. You will need to add void into the window for privacy.
Just a thought but I have exactly the same issue at home. I have a three floor townhouse and the neighbour looks straight in... We have put plantation shutters on all windows now. The shutters are white and the slats are 70mm wide so they look really modern. The advantage is that if you set them at 45 degrees light floods in but you have total privacy... Its worked well for us.

Comments (3)I’m not sure why but I do have a love of sun and shadows and so for window coverings I will always bear that in mind if the room faces south or west. And if it does I like blinds that give shadows such as Venetian, new double roller blinds with sheer panels , shutters and I’d even consider vertical in the right situation. It also depends on what time of day and what purpose you use the room for though. And if you’re overlooked, especially at night. I once had a west facing living room with mid “golden” coloured wood venetians and in that particular room the afternoon evening sun gave a magical effect. Hi,
We have them in every room.
Brilliant at blocking light in lounge, kitchen etc...
In the bedroom we angle them up and they give a really good light block "but" its not a full light block, there are gaps around the blades that gives a little light bleed. If you want a full light block you need blackout blinds or heavy curtains. Its a personal thing really, I like the light level they create but some people need an absolute blackout..

PRO9 years agoHi, for the bedroom you could have a bottom up roller blind in a sunscreen fabric. This would allow you to roll up the fabric so that your neighbours can't see in but still allow light in. Sunscreen fabric itself allows a view out whilst providing some privacy. In addition, you could have a blackout roller blind for night time. Alternatively, you could just have a bottom up roller blind in blackout fabric, but you wouldn't be getting as much light in the day.
For the living room, we would suggest a sunscreen roller blind for the door and window. Sunscreen fabric is perfect for cutting glare on tvs.
