Kitchen flooring....help!

Hello all

I'm wanting to update my kitchen and change the flooring to a darker colour. I'm not wanting to spend a fortune as could move house in the next 2 to 3 years, therefore I am thinking of those new vinyl or laminate clip together tiles or planks. I rather like really dark brown wooden look planks....but would this work with the unit top surface, as it is a dappled black colour but with what looks like a bit of a hint of dark green even? The wall tiles are also black. The alternative would be black stone effect tiles, but I think I prefer the wooden effect. Any thoughts appreciated. Thank you

Hello, I think wood effect vinyl would look fine and bring some warmth to the room, If you laid it diagonally the pattern would mirror the way you've fitted the wall tiles. But if you wanted to stick with stone effect there is a good quality vinyl that looks like grey limestone flags - google Tarkett Gripstar Basaltina Grey. Amelia

Hello, First, let me tell you that your Kitchen looks great and it's also spacious. I really like it! When you said, you would prefer to have your space light and that you prefer light coloured floor, the first idea it came in my mind it was the Scandinavian Kitchen style, where mostly white or light coloured floor is being used. I very much like white floor or some light grey/brown shades as you can see on the second image. Light oak it's also good idea, however if the furniture is also light oak colour it could happen that your space goes flat and boring. Don't forget that you can always decorate your space with some ornaments to make it look more interesting. Hope this helps! Best wishes

We have found that slate tiles seem to be coming back into fashion, especially for kitchen and cloakroom floors. However as you have stated they can be quite expensive. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative it's possible to get 'slate effect' tiles which uses digital technology to produce a genuine slate look at a much cheaper price. Hi there, Beautiful kitchen by the way. I would recommend that you go for a cement or grey granite effect floor tile. This should compliment the kitchen and create a warm feel. I would avoid lighter colour tiles as I feel these may clash with the worktop and wall tiles creating an unbalanced look. Check out the following as a suggestion. Hi. I have ordered a cashmere kitchen. The kitchen is quite small but very light, though it will be quite crowded as we are definitely having an island . I can't send an image as it hasn't been installed yet. My question is about the flooring. What did you choose in the end and have you liked all your choices?

Thank you, had it done a while ago just forgot to post photos. The room is really quite big anyway, but I love how it has brought it up to date and smartened it up! Only cost about £500. I went with Wenge Quickstep laminate planks.
