I would pull the rug forward so that the sofa is not half on and half off the wooden floor. Remove the 2 dining chairs and replace with an armchair . You need to draw in the space to define it as the sitting area. Definitely needs some art on the walls. A coffee table would help and I would think about putting the dark cupboard the other side and bring the open shelves to the dining side . You could decorate with some interesting books/objects . Also I would replace the curtains . Good luck.

For me personally if it’s a forever home I would need to love it. You obviously don’t need to love what it looks like now but have a vision of what you’d do with it and as colourhappy said consider location, aspect etc. Our first house was purely the best of what we could afford in the area for school. The only thing I missed when we moved was a blossom tree! Our second (current) house we absolutely love however it’s not without its flaws which we were probably blinkered to. We have been looking to move recently but even with an increased budget we can’t find anything that comes close to the actual house. I’m sure the absolutely perfect house doesn’t exist (or in budget) so just wondering if you’d made a list of what’s really important to you? I don’t know your age either but I guess priorities change as you get older. colourhappy we looked in your area online and let’s just say we’d need to downsize 😂

We are agents for LPD Doors and also J B Kind doors. Both sell similar doors but under different names. Neither of these companies will sell direct to the public. You have to use a merchant. Both suppliers offered decent doors. You will have to buy the hardware from a different supplier to the 2 mentioned above but as a word of warning do not buy cheap rubbish. Always remember you get what you pay for.
