What Colour to paint my cladding?

I am slowly renovating my 1970's bungalow, as you can see there is a lot of cladding in a dark brown which i do not like. I want to modernise it without the cost of changing the actual material.

My thoughts are to repaint the cladding and replace the guttering to a similar colour, the windows are being changed soon and will be an aluminium framed window most likely in a slate grey or charcoal colour.

I would love to hear what the Houzz community thinks...

Hello,

It is hard to see from the photos as they do not seem to get any bigger when clicking on them. Do you have any a little closer to the building.

I would normally do a 3D image to show my customers how this would look in different colours and materials. You can then see everything together before making costly purchases.

I would agree that painting the cladding would be the most cost effective way to make a big change. If you are having grey aluminium windows then I would go a more modern and contemporary colour. It is hard to see the front door from here but this is normally a good thing to change to upgrade and modernise your property.

Hi. I love French grey which would work with your roof. Vert de Terre and lichen would also look nice, I'd pick up a few testers to see how they work in the light. I'd try slipper satin for the render which works with all the colours. I wonder if you'd also consider adding shutters to give more of a Cottage feel? You could also add a window box under the right hand window which would balance it with the other window and continue with the Cottage look as would adding a knocker to the front door

What a great decision to have to make, I wish I lived on a colourful street. Lucky you. I like either the salmon pink of the first photo or the palest pink of the second photo. I’d stick to white for the door. Keep us updated with what you decide, I don’t think you can go wrong with most colours but I wouldn’t want to be the boring one in the row

Hi - Your living room space looks amazing and has a lot of light coming through. As this is a living room you will be relaxing and spending quite a bit of time here I would suggest a neutral colour, such as a soft pink or a warm cream. Pink is having a come back but more sophisticated and grown up. Your brown sofa will work well against pink also. Also if you add lots of greenery in your living room it will not only connect the outside with the indoors but pink and green looks fab when put together! If you also buy pieces which match the colour of your bi-folds they would stand out against a neutral and will make the space feel connected. Colours you could try are Farrow and Ball; Pink Ground, Setting Plaster would look pretty too, Oxford Stone would look great with the brown sofa too. I think you could go much bolder. That beautiful fireplace is bold! I’m mad about green and recently used Farrow & Ball Cromarty in my sitting room, but I think you could go even bolder with Mizzle or even Pigeon? I would paint the panels the same colour as the wall and keep the colour below the picture rail, above it white or at least a pale shade, but there are no hard and fast rules. To be honest any bold F&B paint would look good - despite the name Dead Salmon is a beautiful soft pink that would look great. The last pic is mine in Cromarty. You have such a lovely room!
