What Colour to paint my cladding?

I am slowly renovating my 1970's bungalow, as you can see there is a lot of cladding in a dark brown which i do not like. I want to modernise it without the cost of changing the actual material.

My thoughts are to repaint the cladding and replace the guttering to a similar colour, the windows are being changed soon and will be an aluminium framed window most likely in a slate grey or charcoal colour.

I would love to hear what the Houzz community thinks...

Hello,

It is hard to see from the photos as they do not seem to get any bigger when clicking on them. Do you have any a little closer to the building.

I would normally do a 3D image to show my customers how this would look in different colours and materials. You can then see everything together before making costly purchases.

I would agree that painting the cladding would be the most cost effective way to make a big change. If you are having grey aluminium windows then I would go a more modern and contemporary colour. It is hard to see the front door from here but this is normally a good thing to change to upgrade and modernise your property.

K11agl, thanks for the mellow mocha pic ....yes looks great in your bathroom but I'd hate it on my outside walls lol! The joy of colour swatches eh? I will look up the Crown colour you suggested & some other lighter greys ....maybe even a greige might work? I'd like a modern classic look but don't want it to look too dark or gloomy.

Hi, what will be on the floor? Definitely get samples of the colours you like first, paint some large pieces of cardboard with it and look at them in the light of your actual kitchen. This is Purbeck Stone with Mole's Breath You could paint the walls Ammonite, Cornforth White or Wevet. I'd go for a light coloured Quartz worktop, but again, I would look at samples and hold them together with your chosen paint colours.

I took your advice @alyson38 , @Fran and @Raumtastik and here is how it looks so far. I havent finished painting walls which will be SW Alabaster. I am currently trying to decide if I should do open shelving on either side of the kitchen window (I put some blue painter's tape where it would go) or some blinds (in natural wood looking woven linen, bamboo). It needs something there as it looks kinna blah.

Hi Rachel, I would be tempted to paint it a softer grey like farrow & ball Ammonite or even Farrow & ball Cornforth. With a softer grey you will find the sideboard will not feel as strong in the room, allowing you for the navy chairs & sofa's to take center stage in the room.
