Mixing metals: chrome tapware and hardware with brass ironmongery?
Comments (0)Hello I am fully renovating my tiny 1 bed flat. It's in a period building and I want it to look modern, but not too modern!... All the tapware is chrome (so silver in colour) and I need to now choose what colour the - door handles - hinges and - ironmongery on period sash windows should be.... Can I mix brass and chrome together? Or should I get chrome for everything?....I am worried that chrome will be too modern and I would like to bring in some gold/brass elements like metal plant pots or light fittings etc... Which shades do you like the most in the links below?!...See Moremixing metals in bathroom
Comments (9)Apologies for not responding to your comments for awhile, I have been very busy in Pantomime!!! I really appreciate all your comments. Normally I would just have 1 metal as it’s safe, you can’t screw up but I am feeling adventurous. Ebay- yes I will be visiting most definitely. Black I know is in fashion and is good industrial look but now some comments have got me thinking about avoiding black and going for the antique brass hammered metal look in order to blend metals easier. Plus you can get nr black metal looking more aged which I think will work and in the future helps with restyling. Can you get a hammered/aged looking heated towel rail????...See MoreBathroom metals..
Comments (1)I am not an expert by any means, but personally I would go for a white towel heater, as you have white tiles it would blend with background and then you can add towels for a pop of colour. Can also be changed easily and inexpensively when needed. The flushplate, I would say it depends on where in the room it's placed snd what the background is. As for the wall lights, personally I would try to sell on and look for something in brushed gold....See MoreCeiling mounted shower curtain Rod
Comments (1)Hi all, Has anyone managed to hack a curtain rail for a ceiling mounted curtain Rod. I plan to use 25mm stainless steel ceiling support brackets but can’t seem to find pure stainless steel curtain rails of 25mm. My fixtures are brass but lacquered brass curtain rails are even harder to find so my plan is to compromise and ‘mix metals’A lot of the companies supply these stainless steel effect or metal fixtures which will rust over time. I can’t have a shower screen due to layout , a badly placed window and lack of appropriate support. I find all the standard shower curtain rails quite hideous. I was too glad to be rid of the circular one I had. Any help would be appreciated. I have searched for weeks and am coming to the end of my bathroom renovation....See MoreCaldicot Kitchen & Bathroom Centre
