What are your thoughts on Crittall-style windows?
Comments (76)Hi @User thanks for the thoughtful reply - all right on target. We bought the house with the newly installed windows, so the contract was with the previous owners - not us. Would be nice if Crittall would honour their guarantee or even offer any help but they've yet to do the decent thing. They will not toss their installer under the bus for mis-selling them, nor will they obviously go on record saying they're not suitable for a marine/coastal environment. We're happy to be their test lab!. With respect to condensation the thermal break question is a good one - thanks. If there is one it's not visible and seems woefully ineffective. We have trickle ventilation for the house as a whole but it doesn't reach the windows unfortunately. We do have all the usual extractors and we're starting to look at further air circulation/ventilation solutions. Cheers Bill...See Moredoors and windows - doubting my decision
Comments (4)If you can see the back door on the same wall as the bi-folds then i'd paint that the anthracite to match the doors and also the frame. Otherwise you'll have white windows, a black door and anthracite doors too, all on one facade. On the front it won't matter, and you have done the right thing and ordered a black frame for the door. I'm sure it will look great!...See MoreWindow coverings for bay window with door
Comments (3)cordless conservatory blinds - look super clean and modern, come in lovely range of colours, no need for curtains, good for heat retention and you can pull them down from the top or pull them up from the bottom - the choice is yours, we have some in our house and love them...See MoreYour thoughts on windows & sliding-door layout at rear
Comments (0)We have a west facing back garden. We can't decide where to put doors and sliding doors at the rear of our house. I'm not mad for bi-fold doors and don't like internal window benches . We spend a lot of time going in and out of the garden and don't really leave the doors wide open a lot (we live in Ireland so might do this 1-2 months during the summer). Would love your thoughts on where to put sliding and / or back door to garden. Room 4 is a den/living room and has a sliding window (not door)....See More- 9 years ago
