How do you create a welcoming atmosphere in the home?
Comments (10)Hi Tom, It is a great subject for a discussion. A welcoming atmosphere is usually created by an emotion. Objects such as art, photo frames, pieces with sentimental values, antiques can create an emotion. It is also important to pay attention to textures and colours that are at the first sight when entering a home. The most important aspect of a welcoming atmosphere in any home is attention to detail - how and where you place objects, whether there is a small accessory on a furniture unit, interesting objects on a shelf, a vase with flowers on a table etc. And last not least is smell - invest in a very nice room scent that would appeal to most people not just yourself. I hope this helps. I believe that your home is an extension of who you are so always make it personal! Warm wishes, Anna Monich...See MoreHow do I create more light?
Comments (30)Hi Danni we have a north facing hall with a tendency to be dark in spite of a glass door and window, however we painted the hall in F&B White Tie , installed more lighting and painted all the woodwork white plus an oak Amtico floor. Now much warmer, continued the yellow base with F&B White Tie, New White painted furniture and Matchstick feature wall in the adjacent lounge so it flows....See MoreCreating a wow factory in dining /living area
Comments (27)I'm not sure blue is the way to go. I think introducing a fifth colour will work. You currently have the sea grass sofa, grey chairs, white table, brown floor. I'd go with the grey or the sea grass for continuity. The living room has two views - not sure if one's old and one's newly decorated. The first is the straight view through the door in to what looks like a hallway and appears grey like the walls in the dining room:- The other looks like another room straight through, but the doorway looks 'amended', so not sure if you were trying out different colours or the view just appears a little weird. Anyway, it doesn't matter, i'd stick with the grey, sea grass and white. I'd also put the T.V on something higher as currently it's quite low down. The T.V could also do with being a bit larger, and I'd move the lamp to behind the sofa otherwise it will glare in front of you and impede t.v viewing....See Morehall wow factor
Comments (15)Hi Catherine, we recently refurbished a hallway with the same problem. We used Farrow & Ball Down Pipe Grey for banisters and radiator cover which looked dramatic and the walls were painted in a soft light grey as a great back drop for artwork. Also lighting can dramatically change a space if you wanted to put in a new chandalier contemporary or classic it would also change the look. Good luck. www.minnieandgrouse.com...See Moreminnie101
