Hi, you could go modern country and use the colour of the moment which is grey. The grey acts as a neutral but would give the kitchen an edge and balance out the yellow. Yellow and grey are really big at the moment especially in modern country style. Hope this helps.

Your white appliances will always accentuate the yellow no matter what you put on the walls. You can paint the cupboards, though, even if they're plastic over chipboard. Prep them right and they won't peel.

Try not to use any more white in the room as it will make the cupboards look even more yellow but take everything else darker/down in tone - tiles, walls etc. That will make them the lightest thing in the room. You can paint appliances if you want, specialist paints do work.

I have just done a similar project but wanted to diffuse the colour of the granite worktops in a painted kitchen.

I agree, a cool grey would would help on the walls to soften the yellow .

I am just having ivory fitted bedroom & im worried they be more creamy than I thought. I'm using Farrow &ball in "Cromarty" paint, It's a beautiful colour and if you don't like that they have loads of colours to choose . I usually go very pale creams/ whites but this room needs colour . I was advised paint 2 coats of paint onto a large piece of lining paper and move to different areas of room at different times of daylight .

Cromarty has green tones which would not only add a soft colour but would also be relaxing for use in a bedroom. Yes lots of lovely colours but I find you can get overwhelmed which choice . Go with your gut feeling .....

Hi. I'd avoid cool tones as I think they'll accentuate it, especially something with a purple undertone but I think blues or a grey/blue would have the same effect. I'd keep to colours close on the colour wheel so something with a green or brown undertone including warms grey or even something ŵith a yellow undertone but a deeper shade. I would also consider ceiling colour if it's a bright white.

It looks like my kitchen! I added tiles in the same cream, terracotta and a white. Add a terracotta roller blind too. Looks warm and welcoming.

Hiya, I think that the "peachy" tones of unpainted fresh plaster may be adding to your worries by adding extra yellow and pink tones through reflected light. To "tone down" the yellow, I'd echo some of the previous comments by:

1. Changing the lighting to neutral or colder (bluer) bulbs (If you currently have flourescents, I'd get rid, as they have a poor light spectrum with heavy yellow/orange tones)
2. Certainly consider greys - they will contrast nicely and "soak up" some of the yellow or
3. Add bold teracottas - this will not soak up the yellow, but rather push your palette beyond yellows into the orange/reds and "take over" from the yellow
4. Add some splashes of other colours to take the eye away from the yellow - think peacock tail feather colours like iridescent greens and teal blues

Relax and enjoy your kitchen! The colour is a classic, and will still look fresh when other "trends" have moved on!
