How to tie open-plan kitchen/ living/ dining room areas together?
Comments (13)I agree with many of the suggestions above, especially that there's too much furniture in the living room. You're going to hate me for saying this but I think there's too much clutter and busyness overall for such a small space. I'd radically reduce the number of pictures and knick-knacks in both rooms – especially the living room – and move the ones you keep to less prominent places. I'd also take the coat rack and cookery bookshelves out completely, and replace the busy parquet flooring with either not-busy plank laminate or a simple-patterned or solid rug. Finally, I like trees but that spidery palm tree is hideous IMO....See MoreNeed help on Paint for Kitchen & Living Room
Comments (2)Might be time to call in someone to help onsite - F&B have colourists who visit - as do Laura Ashley and then there's a whole host of independent designers - the main issue, I believe, when you want to get a look that's the same in both rooms - is the light ... you probably will need two shades of the same colour - one lighter for the darker room and one darker for the lighter room - then they should give the same tonal feel from one room to the next ( speaking from experience in my own home - I'm a planning geek not a colourist !) I think that little Greene do shades of the same colours - and obviously dulux do - ie choose from the same paint sample card - but if you really can't find the right shade - I'd strongly suggest you ask for someone to come to see what light/dark situation you have and they can advise accordingly ! It will be worth the investment!!...See MoreHelp us stop our new kitchen from going clinical!
Comments (43)I thought I'd update everyone as to what we settled on as most of you won't have seen the finished post. Went went for Little Greene French Pale Grey on the walls and then a Grey Quartz worktop which had worked quite well. To stop it from being clinical, we opted for some textured wallpaper in the dining area which is Bala Storm (I think) from John Lewis. We then added some natural tones using a wooden table, and then Vitra chairs. Along with wooden fruit bowl etc. The main window will have wooden venetian blinds, and the bay windows will probably be done in a darker grey material as the perfect fit style blinds you find in conservatories...See MoreMore Flooring help needed please
Comments (12)Sure If you let me know the town you live I could give you my best price including delivery!...would you like a sample? I think you could use different colour floor, not matter what type of floor you will choose, every room look independent from each other, I don't know about the individual style of each room . In my house I would put the kitchen on top of tiles so the fitters will have an even surface to install the kitchen units, but probably the best way for you to make the best choice is to talk to the kitchen fitter and ask them what they prefer, than you wont make the wrong decision. In your case a smart decision and a honest answer would be to tile up to the kitchen, you could save quite bit of metres having a large kitchen. one more thing would you like large tile or more narrow? the large tile are 24x96cm the narrow tile are 16x96cm more photo...See More- Danielle thanked Equilibrando...
