I understand exactly what you mean, it looks as if nobody lives in it, it's a bit cold, but the kitchen units look beautiful. You could go for something really inexpensive and that is to paint the walls a really interesting colour. It's difficult to know exactly what to advise as I cannot see the whole room, but do you have a place to eat in the kitchen, if you have a dining area, what about having a feature wall using wallpaper.

Hi Danielle. It looks a lovely kitchen. You could consider adding shelves to the side of the sink and then accessorise (but in oak not as per pic!). I would definitely add a potted herb/s. You could also add a nice washing up liquid and brush by the sink. I think it needs a little texture so a dark marble or granite mortar with a wooden pestle next to the hob and perhaps find a nice olive oil bottle or something. You don't want to overcrowd the worktop so would limit what you add. Perhaps a warmer wall colour? A neutral with red/pink undertones should work, try farrow and ball or dulux just walnut may also work. I assume the blind is new?

Hi Danielle, are you planning on having a tv on the wall or did the builders just put it in?

I would change the blind to something more vibrant and warm, a red would look nice and a couple of red accessories (like kettle, toaster, vase) and you will be there!

You have the bare bones of a beautiful kitchen, but I agree it is very bare at present! A few thoughts on what I might choose:

1. While I understand your choice of white for the blind, I think this makes that whole wall too insipid, and that would be the first element I'd change.

2. My personal preference would be to use greyish or duck egg blues as the accent colour - see samples below:

4. Add some wall art...

   

5. ... and find other ways to inject a little "texture" - everything in the room just now is very "flat"

6. Some potted herbs would be great, as would a shelf or two

Finally, give it a month or two - the room will soon find a natural balance with use. And if your room remains too clinical, I will happily hire out my 2 children for an hour or two - they'll soon sort it out!! ;-)

Your back wall is crying out to be your feature wall, don't just paint it, definitely be bold. Go online and order free wallpaper samples. Get a few, find a colour within the wallpaper that you can then use for painting your other walls. I wouldn't put your tv where the socket is as televisions are definitely not recommended as a focal point. It will be difficult to put paper up with the socket there, but a mirror would be fine to cover it up, although once you have your wallpaper hung you probably won't want anything covering it up. Your kitchen is going to be fabulous, you have lovely taste. Do send pictures when you have finished. Good luck

I would go with what you like for the red blind and accessories but a warm red would work very nicely!
