Thank you - I'm so tempted to keep them! My main concern is that this isn't a forever home - I'll be selling in a couple of years so it can't be too out there. But I was thinking, like you, with a different background it could work.

Agree to keep the pink! They would look lovely with white tiles and possibly a white and black tiled floor. Maybe you could update the taps/handles on the basin and bath too - brass or copper could add an antique yet edgy look. The mix of pink, copper, white and black is really on trend.

The thing is you might end up being here longer and those bathrooms don't just reappear - you can't buy them now, I think if you're harbouring any positive feelings for it (as I would in your situation) I think you should keep them. You can always tear them out when it comes time to sell, but you can't put them back in to live with them.

It sounds like you like them and want to keep them? I think keep the pink and have fun updating the rest! You won't easily find these around anymore and you could end up regretting it if you got rid of them. You could easily pick a scheme where down the road a white one could slot in if you change your mind.

Personally I would paint the tiles white and replace the pink suit. Knowing I will leave after two years all my renovation decisions will go to please potential buyer, not myself.

Maybe the sad reality is that buyers are still looking for a beige box? I personally would keep the pink. They look much higher quality than the yellow bathroom (link in post above). Mid century is a "period" many people like now. Also, if you're not planning on keeping the property for long, why waste your money replacing sonething you like?

It's been fascinating to see how this has divided opinion! I've pretty much decided that I'll change the suite to white, re-enamelling the fab bath but replacing the basin (with similar style in white) as I doubt any re-finish would be durable. It's strange but I quite like the pink bath, not so much the pink basin and even less the pink loo! (which will become part of the bathroom). Illogical but there it is ...

Maybe a vanity instead of a pedestal sink? Remember, the more storage the better for the majority of people.

It does seem a bit too much colour for the size of the space. My bathroom looks the same size but a monochrome scheme and mirrored wall did wonders. And do you really want separate hot and cold taps? I'm not convinced pink fittings are desirable even for mid century aficionados.

yeah, if they are in good shape, why not keep this retro suite. not sure if you could picture your pink suite, but with white tiles with a black trim and a black and white checker tiled floor? maybe even an art deco mirror and ceiling light?

I agree the pink is lovely in an Art Deco context but am struggling to see it as mid century.

Oh please don't replace the basin and reenamel the bath! If you really can't live with it then sell the suite intact. Someone would love to take it off your hands (me!)

It really will look wonderful with the window and tiles changed for something lighter. Who wants to have a room that looks like everyone else's?! Unless they don't work properly I'd keep the taps too as they look original and suit the suite. I have my original 1930s taps on my roll top and they are great quality, notsomuch as a drip. Modern taps on sink - rubbish!

Retro is so on-trend that I would keep the bathroom fittings.

Add an industrial tweak so that it doesn't look twee though!
