We at JDC Ceramics love variety! From small & rustic, large & industrial to shaker through to gloss contemporary, kitchens are the heart of a home and a reflection of their owners!

When the question comes to the small intricacies (Which make the biggest design outcomes!) what would be your preference...

Could just be my experience but I'm forever seeing white handle-less modern flat glossy kitchen doors and inevitably think 'they must need constant cleaning'. Surely they'd show up every finger print and smudge?

Also how do you child-proof handle-less kitchens?

Personally I like the character and practicality handles give a kitchen.

It's a tough one! It all depends on the aesthetic you are trying to create. For a flat panel kitchen I think it looks more simple to go for a handless design, and have cut outs in the cabinet doors instead, or push to open doors. Alternatively, for a Shaker style kitchen, I would recommend long pull bars, as I personally think Shaker furniture looks a little strange with out some kind of handle. Having enough storage makes a huge difference to a kitchen - we had ours redone in 2015 & we decided on a lot of storage, with the cupboards scribed to the ceiling (no my dust at the top of the units) as well as useable long counter tops that are practical for preparing & cooking. Another vote for Dekton and Sileston Quartz worktops, use them all the time in our projects as so much more forgiving and low maintenance than granite or marble. Agree that Corian is a good option if you have a large island to prevent visible joins, whilst it has other benefits you do need to be very careful when it comes to heat. Vast range of colours and textures in all types nowadays so the type of material shouldn't limit the effect you want to achieve - be that traditional or contemporary. I am always a big advocate that a worktop is an investment, there is no point spending a large sum on a beautiful quality kitchen and then finishing it off with a worktop that won't stand up to time as well as the rest of the room or cheapen the look - I always recommend to go for the best you can afford.

We love the handle-less Kitchen look! Our own office kitchen has it, getting very popular now! Only issue is depending on the material you are using for the cabinets you may be able to see fingerprints/marks, however there are ways to work around this!

Convenience doesn't need to be compromised by style. Handles serve a convenience purpose, but can also be stylish.

When it comes to slab doors I would definitely vote handleless but recommend using two or even three colours/textures just to add to the design and inject movement. When it comes to the traditional/shaker door then handles are an essential element of the look but more importantly opening the doors/drawers, together however they give a timeless elegance which can't be matched.
