POLL: How often do you light candles?
Perhaps it's the Scandinavian influences in my life, but I tend to light a few candles from the moment I get up and keep them going throughout the day (if I'm at home). There's something about the soft light in the morning that just makes me feel oh-so-cosy.
Not everybody lights candles every day however, for some they're reserved for romantic dinners and special occasions only.
So I'm interested to know - how often do you light candles?

Comments (15)Candles seem to have a calming effect on people. I prefer unscented candles, as scented candles can overwhelm a small space, especially a table designated for eating. Comments (24)Cook most days - like others above, well into slow cooker season now and always have it bubbling right to the top so that I can decant into portions and freeze for later on. Have lots of crumbles in the freezer - love a blackberry and apple crumble in the middle of winter and remembering the lovely sunny days in late summer when we went out blackberrying! Favourite cake at the moment to cook is lemon drizzle and have had a run on cooking roasted vegetables and roast lamb for guests recently - found a lovely recipe of balsamic vinegar, olive oil, chopped rosemary and thyme for the vegetables to be marinaded in beforehand! Comments (49)Unfortunately, MRSA is all over, not just lurking in hospitals anymore. My nephew contracted it when he was about 18 months old. The doctors had strict guidelines to follow for prevention of further outbreaks for both him, and the entire family. Comments (8)I start taking my decorations down in the days after 2nd Jan but usually leave a few bits up until 5th of January, the evening of which, I (and the Church of England) consider to be Twelfth night. It seems logical to me that Christmas Day is the first Day of Christmas, and twelfth night is the last evening before Epiphany. It doesn't make any sense to me to start counting from Boxing Day but I know lots of people believe that it is the night of Epiphany is 12th night and you hear both dates used...See More
