Window help!

Hi. We have been in this house for nearly two years now and feel it is time to do something with the windows. We aren't fans of the current windows but aren't sure of what style would suit the house best. Can anyone help with some ideas? Thanks

we think Georgian style windows painted in a sage green would work well on your house. Adding the Georgian glazing bars stops the windows from looking so vast. If you opt for side hinged windows instead of windows with top openers then you will get a more symmetrical look to the house.

Hi Mike. I'd just go for something similar to next door. If you're changing the windows you could also consider moving the door to the front?

Thanks Minnie. Yes we have considered something like next doors but also wondered what other styles would work. As the downstairs front window is so large, i didn't know whether a window similar to next doors would have too many sections. Where would our the door at the front? Thanks

I would go with the width of the doorway and the height of the window next to it. Seems a shame not to have the door at the front of the house though

Don’t let it put you off though!!! A neighbour had a similar conversion to us and opted for 3 traditional windows instead of a triangular one like ours. Ours blends in more from the outside because the glass kind of fades into the roof tile (not explaining that very well - but ultimately when looking from the garden, you notice their windows more than ours). Also - theirs looks more normal inside too, whereas ours is quite a feature.

Not the same size as yours, but I had a pvc window made for my kitchen that opens out from the bottom. The manufacturers told my builder it doesn’t comply with regulations so they couldn’t issue a guarantee with it. I asked them to go ahead anyway and 12 years later it’s still okay.

It might work with double doors on the corner. Or directly under the window above. I can see the ground floor window has been extended but can't work out if the right hand side lines up with above? Have you considered changing that window to how it would originally have been?

Thank you both for your comments. Timber master, I like the look of the windows on your design. I've been looking on your website and really like the margin sash window. Do you think a sash could work on my house. I'm concerned the bottom window is too large for a sash as it is over 3m wide

Love the windows from Timber Master, very classy. I had a play with the front door as suggested and have used the same style to re-position the front door.

Hi Mike

We're glad to hear that you like our products.

It is possible to add sash windows to normal openings and on the wider window we would put in a Venetian sash where you have three sash casements next to each other and the centre sash is wider than the two outer sashes.
