Agree with Colourhappy you must take into consideration flooring and aspect of room also I think that Dimity is just too pale perhaps. I would go alot deeper and suggest London Stone. You can use it with off white for skirting etc. However it will be "dark"! - you can add rug that is light coloured (cream). I attach a pic so you can see what I mean by "dark" but it is very nice i think. Oxford Stone might be a good compromise. I think you are on the right track as this set of colours has red/brown undertone.

It looks great Sam! I love the cabinet, and the flooring choice too, you’d never know it was lino. We have Lino in our utility room, its so easy to keep clean...lovely and warm and soft under bare feet too! You must be so pleased with it, everything works together really well.

There is however no doubt that the individuals sent the first time did not have the skill level to carry out the work, the finish is poor and the original firm need to source better workers to complete your job. However the sympathy of earlier posters and claims they wouldn’t have them back won’t resolve your issues. You need to put your complaints in writing and state what you expect to be done to resolve the issue and a timescale. Don’t forget to send the letter by recorded delivery to prove they received it. In my opinion the complaint should concentrate on the poor tiling and the absence of preparation before decorating rather than the cost of the work which you agreed to at the outset. The CAB are right that you have no legal redress unless you give this company opportunity to resolve the issues first and in fairness by agreeing a fixed fee for work you are likely contractually entitled to call them back for remedial works. You are also right to withhold payment but after their next visit need to be realistic about the expected result- you will no doubt be looking for faults but the expected results should be competent/tidy/smart looking as perfection is unachievable.

Yes, it would. Try to co-ordinate the ceiling paint with the walls in terms of the 'hue'. That means that if the walls are a red based neutral, then use a red based neutral on the ceiling too. If you avoid cool greys (which are technically blues anyway) then that is a good starting point. Brilliant white needs natural light to look good, in a dingy room with a low ceiling it reads as grey so a warmer white will look better.
