Need help with choosing underlay

Hi all,

After a house fire last year, I'm currently in the process of replacing all of the flooring in my home. I was hoping to get a little advice on the necesary underlay if possible. Most of the rooms will be carpeted, however the property is very cold and does not have any central heating. So, I was thinking that certain rooms will likely need a thermal underlay. Most online retailers appear to suggest that all underlay offers great insulation etc, even if it's only 7mm foam for £2.99 per m2. I find it very hard to believe that these will do much to stop the draught/cold from the floors creeping through.

If anyone could recommend the best type of underlay for such a property, I would very much appreciate it. I'm moving back in in 2 weeks and I currently haven't decided on a single carpet or underlay, oops!

Many thanks in advance.
