Comments (7)Looks like the panel is glass, though it has some kind of texture to it that will make it less translucent and gives that shimmer where the light catches it. It might be a double glazed unit as well - which would help with noise control if you need that. The thin frame is a kind of metal, perhaps a bronze or bronze effect finish. It can be that thin because it is internal only so it doesn't need to deal with thermal stuff like a sliding door in an external wall would. Hope that helps! Comments (4)Our original layout was a through lounge and dining area. I didn’t like it. I preferred to shut the lounge off and then knock doen the existing wall between the kitchen and dining area which is what we did so we have a kitchen diner all across the back of the house. We then put double doors between the dining area of the kitchen diner to make the lounge private. Closing the double doors keeps the lounge warmer in the winter but we tend to leave them open and only close them when we go away so passers by can’t see through from the front of the house to the back....See MorePlay room ideas please

7 years agoHi. You could fix double sided art with rods top and bottom. This is by Dona Nelson so I haven't looked at prices but you could achieve the same with canvases and then have a similar frame built. It will obviously block some of the light but the art needn't be massive to make a statement

Hi I would put up either glass shelves or wooden ones. If they are wood you can choose different size gaps and shapes however if glass they would need to be more uniform. Here's a photo of glass shelves in a window to show what I mean. If you choose wood make sure they are varnished in keeping with other wood nearby. You could go pale like birch so they are fade into the background or walnut/teak to make a statement.

7 years agoI have got a similar space like yours.
The previous owners put in 2 windows with small glass panels.
One of the window panel slides, but the other does not. Which works well as a divider, between the rooms.
You can also put in glass blocks.

7 years agoI like my Japanese screen. it folds back when it needs to and divides the space when necessary. They are not cheap. This one was over £900 be it let's the light filter through on a sunny day.

7 years agoIf budget is an issue you could use climbing rope which you can get in all sorts of whacky colours to make a striking divider like in the pic or create some honeycomb shelving like in the staircase pic

7 years agoDefinitely a nicer radiator for a "warm welcome", excuse the pun! You could make a feature of it then have nice glass brick feature above.

We work with a great supplier that do custom sized resin panels.
They are safer, lighter and easier to work with than glass and also give almost endless options and applications.
