Help for kitchen/diner layout please!
Comments (3)Hi Hannah. I would keep the same layout. Where the sofa is facing the tv I'd go for a corner sofa with 2 arms. I'd go for something on legs to maximise space and not too dark a colour. Max 7ft in length and have it a foot or so from the window. If wanted you could add a small accent chair, stool etc kind of angled next to the tv but facing the sofa with a coffee table in the middle. Dining table against the kitchen ŵall, 5ft in length with a bench against the ŵall and a couple of clear chairs the other side ie eames or ghost. If you are decorating I would paint both the door and radiator to blend in with the walls. I'd also get a rug to zone the sitting area, just big enough for the front feet of the seats to sit on but keep it close to the floor colour so as not to make the room feel smaller. Add a vase of faux flowers or something on the dining table with a large mirror to bounce some light. If it's in budget a light over the table may also look nice. Hopefully that should also leave room for a slim table and lamp, floor lamp and a plant....See Moreideas please for dining area storage
Comments (12)Hi, I wasn't really meaning take the console away and move the table so far as to close the gap, more take the table away and use the room to create space. You look like you have a lot of room up by the door on the wall facing. If you remove the ladder shelves, you could replace it with a dresser or sideboard. We have a painted Queen Anne sideboard, you can fit loads in it and it's only 50cm deep. A dresser to match your table would look great too. I personally prefer the mirrored on to add light, although you could have a sideboard with a mirror over it as separate items:-...See MoreLiving room front door entry
Comments (5)I think you'll be able to see just fine if you move the small sofa to under the window. I'd try it. You already said that the small sofa is oddly placed and you don't like where the table is, so it's really the only choice you have. I presume you mostly use the sofa opposite the t.v ? You don't say how many are in the house? I think it's just the two of you. I'm guessing that when you have friends over, then you're not really watching the T.V so much, so the sofa in front of the T.V is the one you use mostly?...See MorePlease I need help to lay out my living/dining area
Comments (17)Hi Andrei, From a circulation view point I think you would naturally enter the room and form an arc to the right to the kitchen arriving at the kitchen island so the dining table would be best on the right I feel. A fire on the left where the vase is would look good visually as you walk in and less cluttered along that wall. If the island is movable I would suggest moving it to the right, closer to the sink and hob to allow a line of site from the sofa to the garden though the French doors. Perhaps a square coffee table tucked in close to the right angle of the sofa would be best for circulation and a bigger rug anchored by the legs of the sofa, perhaps curved on its outer edge to echo a round table?...See More- 9 years agolast modified: 9 years ago
