We have a living room that's 20.6 by 11.2 feet.
(I hate its shape.)
My question to you all is, what would you do in this space?
I've already come up with some ideas but I'd like to see what you guys would do.
We don't want it to feel cramped.
We'd like storage and places for people to sit.
We also have pets.
I can't wait to see what you guys have in mind!

Comments (38)I was going to comment but Amber done it all for me (Amber rearrange my tiny room plz.) This room has so much scope and basically just needs key pieces already there to be placed better. I agree with curtains longer poles let them FREE no tie backs get closer with your seating for conversation areas plz lose little rug in front of harth. Group some of your ornaments so not so granny looking. A few plants and flowers to give the room life. Take care hanging pictures on walls they need to be hung straight with thought to viewing height if too small as some are group them for more impact. Get a large picture or mirror over fireplace they are not expensive one that reflects what you love. Keep all the vintage toys especially old horse he's great adds charm and old car lovely. I would repaint but wait till furniture rearranged then sit back in there with light flooding in from your beautiful windows and see what colours the natural light loves then decide. Comments (19)Hi, If you want simplicity I'd go for removing the grass and replacing with pebbles. There is an easy honeycomb system that holds the gravel in place, so good for driving over and still looking tidy. Have a look at "cedagravel" (there are cheaper alternatives but make sure there is a base membrane attached to the system to stop weeds). If you leave empty area in the middle you can plant Karl Foester Grasses which will blow gently in the breeze and stay upright with low level planting surrounding it. If you don't like grasses choose a small tree like a Chanticleer Pear Tree which will give interest most of the year - white flowers in the early spring and golden leaves in the autumn (a longer lasting deciduous tree). Always try to go to the nursery and pick your plants directly - or get actual photo as they can vary! Look at Round Box Balls, Hakonechloa or Mugus Mop to plant around the base. Yes it is a nice patio, but in the wrong place so will not be used. Comments (11)I also love the look of gravel and the birds like it too! Agree about the permeability being essential. Even Wickes have good sandstone paving in a warm colour in 600sq slabs. I looked earlier. It depends on how you want to lay it out. Are you planning a random pattern, square pavers or something more like grand opus? Slabs in that sort of peach colour would look brilliant next to your grass and greenery. Your extension is an excellent size. I am assuming your door is on the right hand size currently not visible? 9 years agoYou could also go for an extra large sofa (this is a 4-seater from Sofa.com https://www.sofa.com/shop/sofas/4-seat/otto/customize/size/140/fabric/HOUCOO/ ) with two chairs and a coffee table. Or an ottoman instead of the coffee table. Or an ottoman instead of the chair in the middle of the room. Options galore.

I'm not sure, but I think it's a separate ottoman, which means that you could move it to wherever you want and put the chair in the middle of the room. The chair I used is also from Westelm. http://www.westelm.co.uk/rowan-upholstered-chair-h2486
All the other items are from Ikea (Gladom tray tables, Billy bookcases, Besta for TV, and Fabrikor for the wall on the right). Just to give you an idea about the sizes.
