Comments (10)Twins, they like there thing identical, having your home being rewired, its a great opportunity to create different lighting modes. i would have 3 circuits circuit 1) Mainlight ( option to have just a single point for a pendent , or you could have recessed spots, even surface mounted circuit 2) corner spots ( there good for night light , if you do have lights in the corner it a good idea to connect them to a dimmer!) circuit 3) 1 single spot above the beds and the switch by the bed side table /or wall mounted light fitting for reading...See MoreHelp with light fitting
Comments (20)Hi, A couple of quick questions to keep in mind when looking for light fittings for this room. Do you have access to the ceiling over the room? If not then you may not be able to have more than one light fitting as without access you would have to take down the existing ceiling to run the wiring to any additional pendants, or have the cables surface mounted. The other thing that you would need to bear in mind when buying a new light fitting is that you will need to be able to get a strong enough fixing to hold it or any additional fittings in place. Your existing fitting is fairly small so may not have that solid a fixing, you could though potentially fit any new fixings to the existing timber trusses. It would be worth checking that if you do not already know before committing to buying a fitting. Also if you do buy a Sputnic type fitting such as the ones we have used below check first how many bulbs you will need as the cost of bulbs can quickly add up especially if you want them to be dimmable! Good luck with your search and sorry to throw a few potential problems into the mix....See MoreHelp with lighting, please
Comments (6)Hi Rukmini, Thanks for replying. I've now attached a couple of pictures - still needs decorating, but I'm planning to paint the walls (or just the front one) in dark blue or grey, put a wooden round mirror above the wash basin and perhaps some wooden shelves as it's a big clockroom. I'm tempted to transform this clockroom in an utility room, but I'll need to think better about it as I'm not sure it's convenient without a window. Anyway, my main concern about the lighting is that I may buy a ceiling light that doesn't fit? The current light as shown in the picture looks different than the "normal" ones. Thanks again....See MoreHelp with lights
Comments (2)Is this living or dining space? If dining, ideally one would be above table. If living space, I prefer softer lighting eg lamps. We never put ceiling lights on so I wouldn't focus on ceiling lights. 3 looks too much for the size of room. I would put a neutral simple shade that almost blends with ceiling and get some nice lamps instead....See MoreMarina Drobot at Cinnamon Space
