Need help picking a colour scheme

Planning a design for a company in London and they have asked to have their room be fun and vibrant but I am not allowed to use the typical colors as they put it. Any Ideas?

Dear minnie101 sisal rugs look great. I would need two in my open plan area. One under dining table and one in living room area. What colours do you think I should get? We will be changing sofas soon. Buying a purply, mulberry colour sofa. Also going to eventually add a farrow and ball dark feature wall (worsted 284) and farrow and ball (skimming stone) to other walls. Our kitchen is a taupe colour. I look forward to hearing from you. Hi Emily, I teach colour theory and my best advice is to try to think of how colours interact with each other, rather than whether you like them individually. We only have names for about thirty colours, and yet we can see hundreds of different hues. There is alot of good stuff on youtube and there is the Farrow and Ball 'How to Decorate' book. The main issue is recognising tone (how dark or light something is) and undertones (the discernible hue) that is, if something has a blue tinge, red tinge etc, even if it looks grey. It's a big subject.

amy, I think the grey floors can work, light walls will provide the reflectivity needed as floors do provide light, but not anywhere as important as wall surfaces. you can use different shades of colournbetwen the two areas , so lighter and darker shades of a colour will work well. I personally like to have skrtings, archtraves and doors in the same colour as it gives a strong uniform theme. There are paints with a metallic finish around which can give a nice finish as well as the usual F&B paints that everyone loves. check out Eico paints for a different palette of colour including some.metallics or Mylands for some great traditional paint with good colours. good luck with your choices, we all start somewhere and I'm sure you will soon become an expert !! best Rowland
