On floors but having a hard time getting color right. Looking for variation and warm but light washed out wood tones on white oak. Have concept photo. Is this table wire brushed to make the grain stay light? I feel like the top coat is making things go bluish gray instead of warm like this photo. Thanks for your help!

Hi Brandy,

What color are you currently using?

The wire brushing will help the pigments build up in the soft grain, giving the "variation" I think you are looking for. Additionally, if you are looking for the cerused look, we offer a pretreatment product where you can pre-color with one color then coat over top with oil and come up with even more coloring options.

Hi,

Above are the photos of what we are trying to get to on white oak. We have tried several colors, all of which have been too dark. Listing them below. Additionally one of he top coatings has left more of a cooler blue gray sheen instead of the warm tones (more like the table on your post).
- Ash Grey
- Titanium
- Havannah
- Slate Grey 50% - Pure 50%

I think the grey oak will clash against the doors. I think either of the other two will work, although personally I prefer the top one. It depends on your decor style and furniture though. Be sure to look at in different lighting conditions. If you can't get a big sample as advised above, try and get more samples that show the variations in each choice. When choosing my flooring, sometimes 2 small squares of the same sample choice looked completely different!

It wasn't yellow, more a light reddish brown, I didn't look at the Howdens door because I wanted the full vertical panels. The deanta door isn't finished so you can add a suitable oil. I just felt I couldn't get close to the ash wood used elsewhere in the house. We did osmo polytints 3040 followed by 0smo raw 3044. Wood finishes direct give advice about this. See their blog’ beautiful white wood finishes for dreamy white interiors’. Prior to any of the osmo we applied lye to the floors. This is apparently what will stop the eventual yellowing of any other treatment. The final effect is very natural looking. See the photo of white pine with oval room blue. This room was finished about 3 years ago and gets full sun as it is south facing.It is really easy to keep and does not need sanding back again before re applying in the future. It is not for you if you like the shiny polished floor look! Hope this helps.

I would recommend trying Cotton White or Cornsilk.
