Navy paint

I'm looking for a true deep navy with a hint of grey eggshell paint for a kitchen island. Can anyone recommend a brand/colour available in the UK?

Is there any particular reason you want to use Eggshell as the finish? It is not ideal for a kitchen or any area of high traffic as it can as it's name suggests be brittle and liable to chipping. Satinwood is best. Satinwood offers far superior longevity. What i'd do is instead of getting suggestions for brands and names, which may not suit the lighting in your home, is get down to B&Q and pick up a lot of cards from the Valspar range of paint. Take them home and put them on the island, When you have it narrowed down, get a tester pot or two and then paint a large sheet of paper a couple of times so that you can see a larger area of paint. The paper can also be moved about to allow for different lit areas. This will help you narrow down the paint choice further and help you make a decision.

Ensure that you prepare the island for painting properly to get the satinwood to adhere and give the best finish possible.

Not sure if you can get it in the UK to be honest but I've been looking for something similar and think I'm going to go with Star Studded by Colour Trend.

Try http://www.handmadekitchens-direct.co.uk - our kitchen was installed when we bought the house but I know from some paperwork left by the previous owners that this is where it came from. From what I can gather the previous owner painted the kitchen herself too to save some money. It's a very good quality kitchen that has stood the test of time and 3 children! Hi Vicki, I agree with Jules that it would look great to complement the wallpaper by carrying on with dark colour on the walls. I thought these could work hiding by your pictures: Mylands-Bond Street no.209, Marston&Langinger -Smoke Blue. As a lighter alternative you could look at F&B Stiffekey Blue (it would compliment the teal colour without being too strong).

Great chair and navy is my favourite (and go to) colour... have you added gold detail to a paint project before? I'm asking because it can be a bit of a learning curve to get it in the right place/right amount...I wonder if you add the gold as piping to the velvet seat cushion instead (think that is what rinq is saying too) and then pick up gold in other areas of the room with mirrors and accessories? Add a floral cushion like the one pic from Gerty above and you have yourself one classy looking chair! Good luck...I love restyling furniture. So rewarding! xx

Colour palette for mahogany furniture?

Have you considered Benjamin Moore Barren Plain? It’s a near neutral colour which sits just into the Yellow Hue Family. (See the colorography below by The Land of Color). It sits well with the richness of the mahogany colours. But this colour would need to be considered & sampled within your space in order to see the effect of light upon it. This is because all low chroma (near neutral) colours from this section of the color wheel are prone to shifting purple in imbalanced light. They aren’t purple and don’t have purple ‘undertones’, it’s just a phenomenon of light and context. However in a reasonably balanced light, they will look just as their color notations in the colorography describes them. Worth a thought,,, Good Luck with your colour quest! 🌈

Hi Neptune also do the Navy eggshell paint which they use on their kitchens so its ideal for your requirements.
