That is striking indeed, and matches with the purple and golds in your living room. Do you have any other options at the moment? Maybe someone could help to edit the pattern above, or another, onto the chair as it would help you to visualise before investing!

I think Clarke and Clarke's Roxana fabric in Violet from their Uzbek collection would look good. I've included a link to the Jane Clayton page as it is currently on sale there (reasonably priced at under £40/metre). Other fabrics from the Uzbek collection would also look good.

These small chairs can be tricky, my only concern with the first fabric choice is the scale and size of the large horizontal pattern once upholstered could be very over powering. Why not try using two fabrics so you can still have colour with a pattern for example plain fabric on inside with a multi coloured stripe on the back.

I would remove the two patterned cushions currently on your sofa and replace these with cushions in the same fabric as the recovered chair. The fabric you have shown is great .

Thank you Alan, i did initially have that thought in mind of using 2 types of fabric
when i seen the zig zag pattern...it looked quite wowey...what about this pattern:
flowered pattern around the sides and plain pattern on inside of chair?

I think that looks great, Depending on how much the design of the chair means to you I agree with the comment that I would redesign slightly and at least replace the back cushion with fully upholstered back which I think would give it a nice contemporary finished look.
