HELP WITH KITCHEN/DINING/LIVING ROOM LAYOUT
My husband and I are doing a major addition and remodel to our home. I need advice on how to layout our kitchen, dining room and living room area with the space provided in the attached picture. We are a family of 7 (5 kids ranging from 1 to 17) and are looking for an open concept. We must have a tv area with lounging room, a dining area and a pantry for our kitchen. The attached plan is what I have so far and no more can be added to this portion of the house but I am open to rooms being changed or switched.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Comments (6)Hi. I agree, too, with flipping the two areas. Put your L-shaped sofa with the long section opposite the long wall and using the back of it to create your hallway from the front door, the TV opposite on the long wall and the dining table and chairs near the kitchen. I don't know whether you have a left or right L, but if it is a left hand one, that part will go under the window. If it is a right, it'll help divide up the space. Comments (9)I second Johnathon's kitchen extending across the pantry. I'd consider leaving it as a straight run of kitchen units though. No return or peninsula. That would help with opening up the space. If it's a 2 bed flat the 3800mm (?) run should be enough if it's planned well. Especially with a induction hob and smaller sink and that lovely large pantry, you've got more enough space. Then you could add a longer but narrow table with one bench seat. Tuck that against the side wall with the bench under and you can use regular chairs around it (or another bench on the long side). Pull it out from the wall when you have guests over. Do you have a photo? What are the other furniture do you have ? Any photos ? Do you like colours pastels or brights ? What are your favourite colours ? Do you have a favourite shirt, skirt, jumper that has a pattern or style to it? photo please. Do you have a picture or photos that have a coloured frame ? What colour? Do you like plants ? or you have any already ? Are their any sentimental objects ? what is it, description ? What is the rug you want to buy is there a pic of it ? Are you thinking of some sort of fire, faux stove, or a TV for a focal point in the room ? Do you want to have a workspace in the area too? I do not have to have 2 mudrooms but I would like some sort of place for all the kids to unload their things when they walk into the back door. I absolutely need a laundry room but it does not have to be located where I have placed it in the addition plans. Also I definitely need a door leading into the backyard. I am open to moving any rooms around. I am not happy with my addition plans, any help would be loved!! - 9 years ago
