Bar stools - with a back or backless?

When it comes to preferred style of seating for your breakfast bar - do you like a bar stool with a back or no back?
As both types can lend themselves to a variety of interior styles, it's less a question of making sure your bar stool matches your interior design scheme and more a question of personal preference this time!
So - what, if any, do think the pros and cons of each style are? And which do you ultimately prefer?

Comments (5)Hello Shelley, Bar stools are often problematic... What's on offer with these types of chair in the design world often leaves much to be desired... I see them ruining a good kitchen over and over again, gaudy colours, ghastly design etc etc..... So.... What about introducing another element texture wise... Concrete is a fabulously versatile material... These chairs and bar stools would be lovely by Lyon Beton.. They are beautiful in design and really comfortable- I sat in them at 100% Design... Comments (12)I think you see bars (serving beers) with stools and no overhang. These are fine for a social setting where one person might be sitting with their back to the bar chatting to others in the room. If you intend to use the bar for food you need to face the island so will need the recommended leg room. Could you swap the 600 deep cabinets for 300mm deep? The cost of new carcasses might not be too bad. You should also talk to your kitchen fitter as he may be able to install them after the quartz....See More
