Decorating advice needed....
Comments (25)Hi Paul, I like most of what AJ Styling has recommended. Additionally, you need to create a clear, dominant focal point in the room and this would ideally start with the mirror above the fireplace. Also, the furniture/TV arrangement is the main thing you need to tackle. Try the two matching sofas opposite each other and much nearer to the centre of the room, in a symmetrical arrangement with the fireplace. Without seeing a scaled plan it's hard to judge if these fit comfortably. (Avoid placing furniture all around the walls.) Consider buying a large rug. The TV is already too high from what I can see so this can be moved to the opposite wall and placed lower so that it is viewed comfortably at eye level from a seated position. Lighting is also a factor and a couple of table lamps would definitely benefit the space. Sarah...See MoreWhere should my daughters bed go? And decor advice
Comments (6)My first thought was putting the bed near where the radiator is as there are sockets for lamps etc. My second thought was the wall opposite, then lastly putting the bed with the headboard under the window. As to decor, it does depend what colours she loves and her favourite things. Here’s a few “girlie” ideas which may, or may not, appeal to her. The first one is all sorts of pastel shade which are lovely if you want to avoid too much pink!...See MoreDecorating advice needed for open plan area in new home
Comments (11)Hi, thanks for taking the time to reply. I thought I might use the additional living room space as a play area and could perhaps get a screen if I wanted to hide toys away when not in use and could add an armchair/chaise by fire in dining room. Need to zone but haven't had such q big space to do before so a bit overwhelmed with flooring/colour/furniture choices and things it all together, large rugs definitely on the shopping list. Definitely want to get rid of the dark wood on doors and skirting. We are going to put recessed downlights in kitchen and dining room and either two pendants or more downlights in living room. The current dining room light is centered to fit the previous owners table so we can change this. Think I want pendants over new breakfast bar. I like the idea of painting archway darker colour to define areas, funnily enough just saw that in Ideal Home mag yest. Thanks again!...See MoreDecorating advice please.
