Having just stayed in a house with a super busy looking granite worktop you realise you cant actually see when it is properly clean after cooking. Imo go for the worktop with a more subtle vein, which will look really smart with the dark cabinets. ( Love the floor tiles! )

A smart home system can either be hardwired (so basically the lightswitches and sockets themselves are smart. Lightwaverf is an example), or the individual bulbs and plugs themselves are smart (like Philips Hue, TP-link Tapo and so on). I have a mixture of both, and there are pros and cons to each. It is worth bearing in mind that the protocols for controlling smart devices are evolving, and the new ‘Matter’ protocol is intended to allow different smart devices from different manufacturers to be compatible with each other and better integrated with the various controlling apps. So if I were starting from scratch I’d be looking at individual smart devices (which can be added to in an adhoc fashion and more easily updated than hardwired systems) which are Matter capable.

I have a long living room dining room with two of these lights, one at each side. Any ideas for a pair of wall lights that would complement these? I plan to have one at each side of the room (either side of a chimney breast which has the TV mounted to it). This particular ceiling light is brushed nickel, but would it be okay to have antique brass wall lights? Not sure if mixing metals would be an issue here. Any suggestions would be very welcome!
