Help me revision my exterior for maximum kerb appeal
Comments (23)Time to revive this! Having had consultations with not one but two architects (Karin & Groveraxle were both right; not very costly and money well spent) who both offered up good suggestions and helped me come up with a plan of work for the house. I have had building contractors tendering for the work and have just this morning settled on the firm I am going to use. Work on the house will begin before the end of the month and is scheduled to take 6 weeks. There will be no structural changes to the outside but a little bit inside which will give me a bigger kitchen and will open up the living space somewhat. Also master bedroom is being reworked to add an en-suite, structural reworking of hallway and cloakroom - it will look so different and yet quite evidently the same house which is what I wanted :) Lots of cosmetic changes to take place externally and internally which is the bit I have been looking forward to. You are all invited back to help me make firm decisions about paint colours, wood varnishes, light fittings, flooring type, worktop choice et al! The journey continues :)...See MoreHelp with my living room
Comments (19)Firstly, your living room looks amazing!! I think that it does need something else though. Nesting tables/side tables would be great. Try something like these? These would look great as they'd match your current colour scheme. These lightly gold coloured nesting tables would look elegant and compliment your blush/neutral coloured sofas and table lamp. Also, might be good to add some extra accessories that are a little different such as - Coral pieces always add a unique touch to any home and these would definitely match your colour scheme perfectly. Glass squat jars are extremely popular at the moment, with this smoked one you could leave it empty or fill. If you're looking for a mirror, these would look lovely above your fireplace as theyre elegant and charming but also unusual which will attract attention to the centre which would hopefully help even out. These items are all available on our website :) Hope this helps you. Any questions, please contact us! - www.shabbystore.co.uk...See MoreKitchen design help please, diykitchens
Comments (38)Minnie’s layout looks gorgeous :), and she is correct you can buy extra paint from DIY however bear in mind that it’s sold as a two part and almost impossible to paint by hand as the lacquer added is meant to be sprayed on. However most people seem to successfully paint theirs using a matching service so you might want to bear that in mind. And please reconsider the integrated bin, it’s amazing and you can have just one with a handy drawer at the top. It’s my favourite thing having the bin next to the sink on one side and the dishwasher at the other. I can scrape, rinse and load in the dw without moving. Plus it looks so much neater not having a box sat around your kitchen....See MoreHelp and ideas for colour of roof tiles, fascias, render, & front door
Comments (3)Hi Nicola, when thinking about the outside of your house it's always important to consider the style of your home (when is was built) and what others on your street have. There are some rules on what the local council will permit too, so best to check with them first. Whilst it's nice for everyones home to have a unique personality, i believe it looks best when colours and design are in keeping with the original character of the house and road. 1950's homes are typically mid century, so think simplicity and clean lines. White wood siding in white can be a nice way to bring character to the houses facade. Plain, small format roof tiles in clay or slate are ideal materials for this era. I think your front door is where you get to have the most fun. Perhaps consider a colour. 1950's colours could be quite playful. I'd love to work with you on your inteior when the time comes.
