I do not think the first pic looks right and it wouldn't do the room justice. Looks like designer has just crammed in as many wall units as possible into the space.

I wouldn't put those wall units on. If you needed the storage I would raise them all up a bit , maybe something like this

Thanks Ellie, yes we're going for 3m with the extension, hope I don't regret that... I want to create space and drama! Our current ceilings are 2 6 so I thought 3 would look good? I can change this if necessary and match to 2.6...
I agree I don't like the magnet design, it lacks symmetry... That's why I've mirrored cabinetry on my plan either side...
I like that design but it's a bit modern for us, I'm trying to replicate a tom howley style on a much smaller budget, hence going for the mantle etc x

One of the pluses of this design would be no dust on top of the units! X

Karen at OnePlan on here offers remote design services and customers frequently order from DIY so she knows all about their units. Her design includes a full shopping list. Karen designed mine a few months ago, i just haven't had the kitchen done yet!

in the meantime, will have a think about your design. Will you have extra room for a fridge in the new utility?

Not sure my earlier reply has saved... We're having 2 50/50 split fridge freezers, one in the kitchen and one in the utility. Ruled out American style due to aesthetics and depth, they all stick out!

We are at the end of a kitchen reno with DIYKitchens units and a design produced by the lady Minnie mentions Karen and OnePlan. Karen was fantastic and gave me everything I wanted ( symmetry, an island, a mini laundry in a very tight 3 m wide space) Ordering was easy we had every unit, plinth and panel listed so we didn't have to worry about missing things or ordering the wrong item. I cannot recommend her services highly enough. Good luck, its going to be an amazing space when finished.

Oh my, this is divine, so tasteful! I love helmsley and would have chosen it over Bedale accept I really want the larder unit, trying to get the balance between functional and beautiful! Here's my mood board for flooring and silestone... X

Ours is not quite ready yet, waiting for the hood, tiling of the backsplash. I went with worktop larders as I really needed to max out on storage in our small space and added top boxes to the ceiling to eliminate the need for cleaning grease of the tops. Our units are the inframe Helmsley.

My larders were modelled on the Bedale ones from the showroom so you can still have them as a bespoke item for the Helmsley. That's what mine are but at each end as supposed to joined.

I will say now I can't design kitchens (Or draw)! I have also unintentionally drawn similar to the design you had done however with differences. I think the pantry style unit on the right balances the tall cupboards? The magnet design is also a bit off putting having the surround/shelf the same height as the tall units and hopefully the cupboard layout either side of the range feel a bit more Tom Howley?. Is it possible to extend the sink run a bit, I don't know if the bifolds are in/ordered but it would be good to incorporate a bin. I think you also need a bigger gap between the island and DW as it's a trip hazard. I don't know if this would work but once you've added your spice cupboards within the range surround, antique mirror splashback set within a frame and your architraves it all feel a bit more Tom Howley with your marble and colour scheme :)

It's definitely worth speaking to Karen though, hopefully she can squeeze you in and try a few different layouts

Msg not saved again! Just to say haven't ordered bifolds but not sold on integrated as we separately recycle so don't need the dual bins so picked a classy brabantia number! Great design, thank you, food for thought!

Thanks, glad you like it, as I say design is not my thing! I guess they are getting wise to it now with online kitchens not offering design. I think DIY have a design tool with tips if you wanted to play around. Karen's fees are only the price of a DW so it's well worth the money. You have a design that works for you personally, is safe and practical in accordance with regs, things open properly etc plus you don't run the risk of missing anything. The last thing you want is to miss bits off the order or order wrong things as it could cost you more in the long run. I sound like I'm doing the big sell now lol!

The other thing to mention is plinths to get the Tom Howley, DeVol look etc (Karen got a right pair with me and Monica!). Monica is having hers made but she painted her kitchen herself In a LG colour. If you did want to do similar it may be worth seeing if you can get extra paint from DIY. Good luck anyway, it looks like it's going to be a fab room :)

Minnie’s layout looks gorgeous :), and she is correct you can buy extra paint from DIY however bear in mind that it’s sold as a two part and almost impossible to paint by hand as the lacquer added is meant to be sprayed on. However most people seem to successfully paint theirs using a matching service so you might want to bear that in mind.
And please reconsider the integrated bin, it’s amazing and you can have just one with a handy drawer at the top. It’s my favourite thing having the bin next to the sink on one side and the dishwasher at the other. I can scrape, rinse and load in the dw without moving. Plus it looks so much neater not having a box sat around your kitchen.

Re integrated bin, my joiner used some drawer sliders and some MDF to turn an ordinary 400 wide base unit into a bin drawer that I can get a large bin into - the photo is the one in my utility room which I use for dog food, but I have two others in my kitchen, one for recycling and one for other rubbish.

I got my kitchen from DIY kitchens and have been so impressed. They helped me online as I emailed them my plan and they emailed back with some other ideas. They also added on all the extras that I may need into my shopping basket.
