Do you need scotia??

Hi,

I'm replacing my old carpets with laminate flooring and I'm going for the Scandi look :) as i will also repaint my flat in white and neutral.

I thought all I need is to pick the floor but then I read you also need to get the scotia / beading to bridge the skirting and floor.

My question is: is it necessary? What are advantages/disadvantages to having them or not? What should I consider? I was browsing pictures on Houzz and on some of them there doesn't seem to be any? Can someone please help/advise? I'd really appreciate it!!

Attach is a picture of my current skirting board and carpet.

Thank you!

Winnie
