Hi, I agree with Inside Studio. If you want a light floorboard you could sand them, then wash with a whitening or aging solution such as those from 'Blanchon', then finish with a pale colour enhances hard wax oil. This will give you a very light finish but at the same time a much more serviceable finish. Look up http://www.blanchon.co.uk/ or for the equivalent in the States try googling Hard Wax Oil.

Hi there, We have an assortment of floor tiles that you could choose from! I'd recommend any colour that's darker than the wall tiles, as it should mean you won't find yourself constantly worrying about cleaning up after yourself.

Hello roryfiasco, Love the name and you definitely don't want a fiasco with the flooring.. : )) Perhaps add open cardboard boxes which might save the floor more.. Ideally builders should really provide their own dust sheets etc and enough not to damage.. Still snagging will take place before they go and if decorator on site, they should really give the floors a top coat.. .. thing with a flooring is it would probably best to have waited but you know that so it could be that the floor needed a few coats.. If not wait till they're gone and then give a top coat.. Leave for the allotted weeks and then .... I have white floor boards throughout.. They are scratched and stained but, it adds to the charm of it.. : ))

I haven’t painted a chipboard floor but I have laid vinyl sheeting over it in my bathroom and it still looks good after 6 years. It could be painted but painted flooring has a tendency to chip even with a top coat of varnish. I did this with my bedroom floorboards but after a few years it had scratched and chipped. However if the room isn’t used too often then it may be worth a go? There are tutorials online which may help you.
