Hi Vera, Have a look at this photo, we have this tile available its lovely and can be combined with the matching plain grey tile to soften it a bit. The photo is the brown/sepia option but it comes in a very pretty pale blue and yellow. It's not on our website so I'll try and find a photo to send you tomorrow. The tile is porcelain and therefore very durable and doesn't require sealing. We also sell Original Style tiles but they do require sealing. Karen

Hi Patricia, I come across this problem a lot, I match the colour samples in the studio and they work perfectly. When we take them to site the lighting in the room totally changes the look of the colour pallets we chose. Lesson one for us, "always" put the colour samples in the room before agreeing them with the client. Lighting is the single most important factor with pastel colours. If its a north facing room colours will always look dull. Due to the position of the window the units under the window will always be in shadow which neutralises the blue tones and brings out the grey. Two ways of approaching this. 1 Re paint with a stronger blue to offset the neutralising effects of the lighting. 2 Change the lighting. Put an extension into the room and get a few different lights, LED warm white, Soft white, brilliant while etc. Look at the effects in the day and in the evening. When you find the light source that brings out the blue tones use that on all the lights in the room... With regards to colour on the walls, at the risk of being boring I always go white. When you put white up against a pastel colour the pastel shades really pop out. When you put another colour in it alters / distracts from the pastel. Hope that helps, Martin: www.angel-martin.com

I've used a very old Dulux colour called Ice Storm 6. It's from the days when they had a colour and graded it by number in order of depth of that colour. The higher the number, the paler it was. It's very pale and depending on the light source, can range from a proper grey, to blue and violet shades. I've used it before and it's so easy to live with. I have a huge collection of coloured glass so I never use dark colours, they give me more than enough,lol. Also, I always use Dulux Diamond paint base - it's so hard you can literally scrub marks off of it! I don't have children but do plan on having a dog very soon!

Hi. I've just had a nosy through your ideabook and activity :) as the room is north facing I'd go for an inky blue/grey rather than the cool mid tone blues and greys as they would just make the room feel really cold. I've also spotted your post re elephants breath and skimming stone. I would get testers of these, they can work work extremely well in a north facing room but may not in others so try them in different lights. Elephants breath particularly is a great "colour". You could then use warm blues as an accent colour
