I think that is a lot better. YAY! You'll get good flow from the utility straight into the kitchen with your shopping bags, coats, etc. and it looks like there'll be enough space in the "extended hall" to use it constructively. I do have a couple more questions/suggestions: - The doorway from the utility with the fridge next to it - if the fridge door is open, you won't be able to get through. Also, because the area next to the fridge is all wall cabinets, you might have the "where do I dump things?" issue. I would put another counter on the left wall between the two banks of cupboards. It'll probably only be two or three cabinets and counter, but I think it'll be handy. OR you could put the FF there. - I'd centre the hob on the island, but I think that is a good spot for it. - The other thing is something One Plan raised - walk in pantry? You could have part of the utility dedicated to this, or do you think you'll have enough food storage with the wall cupboard near the ovens (I assume this will be a pull out number as these are really handy to be able to see everything.

There are arguments either way. Flooring should always be fitted beneath floor standing appliances (whether freestanding or integrated) for ease of installation and removal (and in the case of freestanding appliances, to ensure there are no areas that are visible without any flooring). By having the floor fitted first ensures a level surface, and as mentioned above items such as end panels will be fitted directly on the floor. The kitchen fitter is obviously taking responsibility for not scratching the new floor during installation, and particularly when moving appliances such as the fridge and range cooker. When fitting timber flooring, it is necessary to leave an expansion gap around the perimeter. By plonking heavy kitchen furniture on top largely prevents the natural expansion/shrinkage of the timber, and therefore there is a risk that the flooring may bow or pull apart. One solution is for the kitchen fitter to cut out around the plinth legs, but this does mean if you ever change the layout, but wish to keep the flooring, you will left with a floor resembling Edam cheese!

I had a ushaped kitchen with peninsula in previous house as no room for island. I never felt stuck behind it- in fact i liked the fact that guests and kids were more likely to stay on the dining side out of my way! I now have an island as I'm stuck with the kitchen in the house we bought, and it drives me a bit crazy when there are lots of people in the kitchen as they all gather around the island and get in the way! I think your plan is pretty good except for oven position. I think it's really far from your workspace, and also I'd question the wisdom of having the oven beside the fridge? Maybe a tall larder cupboard in this position, and a range style cooker with double oven beneath? Or move the hob to the peninsula and put double oven somewhere along that wall?

@kazzh Adding a wall as suggested by HU won't allow for the intention of an open plan with the living room as and adding a wall by the current opening will remove a lot of afternoon light from the living room. Adding the laundry to the pantry is certainly possible, it's an idea that has been considered, but we didn't know a) how possible it was to create a new waste pipe and where to run to, possibly the bathroom next door. b) how to position the pantry area to consider a reduced length of waste pipe to avoid a mass of disruption of other units ie cutting holes in them. Moving the patio door isn't impossible, as we can just brick up the current and add a window, then add a patio door to the extension. Thank you so much so far!
