If you paint the ceiling white you can use a decent quality linear LED linear light source instead of those low out put spots - it would also save you lots on your energy bill. For example, this linear light comes in any RAL (colour) and a 73W 10000Lm LED version wold cost you around £290 delivered: This would be mounted where you have your current spotlights but would one of your spots delivers between 420 and 750Lm. If you had this colour matched to the beams they would blend in and your ceiling would become your light source. We do this a lot with RGB for night clubs and theatres - it creates a great ambience....See Moreforever home for myself and my two children...shoe string budget..help
Comments (16)How about something like this. Shorten the kitchen and block off door to create a bathroom which should be relatively easy with regards to drains. Take down wall between existing kitchen and lounge and utilize the extended space under stairs for the kitchen diner. Create access to garage from kitchen and use part of garage for utility space. Garage could be extended forward at a later date. Use the current dining room as separate lounge. Also like Math's idea to square off the garden doorway from current lounge to make the back more uniform. You have a good size house so plenty of possibilities but I'm no expert so couldn't help with how much things would cost....See MoreNorth-West facing baby’s nursery UK
Comments (15)Hello Colour Happy, Thank you so very much for commenting on my post. We are leaving the woodwork skimming stone as we have it throughout the house and all internal doors are skimming stone too, it actually looks less cold in the nursery for some reason, I’m not sure why? I would love to go for a very light taupe, as that’s what the skimming stone looks like in the natural light. I’ve taken some more pictures. We only have a local paint shop open so are fairly limited to what we can get at the minute due to the lock down as we’d rather sample it first. I’m thinking we may just choose a Dulux colour incase we hate it and then we’ve not wasted a fortune on farrow and ball. We will only be painting the two plastered walls. I love the idea of a striped carpet, I may look at cancelling our order and have a look into this. I have to avoid loops due to a naughty Persian cat! I love buff wicker and we are planning on ordering a huge wicker toy box, I think this will add texture and a bit of warmth too and match his Moses basket. Although I am sat in here now, the room doesn’t feel too bad although it’s very white his taupe furniture warms it up. The cot matches the linen and the colour on the chair too. I’m still so confused! Love the idea of a painted ceiling but we don’t fancy going up there at the min! I’d love to paper one wall and I’d picked the b and q watering hole paper in the cream but it’s out of stock now. Thanks so much for all your advice. Comments (5)I do prefer the Next range over the Dunelm one (although both offer a great range of products and I’m sure I’ll still get a few pieces from both of them), I’ll probably go for the Bronx stuff as far as furniture goes because I prefer the industrial inspiration it takes and it might lean a little more masculine (the lift-up coffee table will be great for WFH... shame it’s got such a long delivery time). How many items would you say is required to complete the room, I was thinking coffee table, tv unit, bookcase, dining table and then see how that all comes together with a couch and chair (possibly a footstool too). So if I was to go warmer with the floors and walls what colour sofas would be advised and what accent colours would you go for instead of blues (I’m guessing blues would be out since they reside in the cooler side of the palette?). I have a fair few house plants so there will be a nice natural presence in the room, a selection of greens might work... I’ll probably try to stay away from the pastel blues and pinks as it might make the home lean a little too feminine (single 30+ male). I think brass or copper would work well for metals with black accessories. I’ve never heard of a jute rug, I’ll need to look it up. Also when it comes to curtains and window furnishings I was thinking of getting perfectFIT blinds for the window and doors (likely the entire house actually:- https://www.blinds-2go.co.uk/perfect-fit-pleated/24568/duolight-grey.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjw9YWDBhDyARIsADt6sGaBEKGL9QPZWqxUsS8E4pM_8T_PbG6LGbHxjFBs7GSdgt-x8GVdw4saAsrFEALw_wcB), I’m guessing an off white although the window frames will be white inside so possibly in white or would that cause too much of a contrast with the rest of the room? With these types of blinds in place I was still tempted to dress the window // doors but probably with something more light and airy rather than traditional curtains (possibly across the top and just down one side... I think I’ll have to come back to this part). Thanks for the reply,...See More- 9 years ago
