In my experience frosted panels don't really allow light to pass through especially if it's a smooth satin finish.

I'd go for a door with a more wider, central panel and have a engraved pattern; This ensures privacy but also allows for clear glazed panels here there.

I've attached a modern door from the Rockdoor collection in vogue...
If you want something traditional, something lime Ludlow 2 is simple yet allows light to flood through.

Also consider artificial lighting if your hallway is dark, Led strip lighting (recessed if you can) or wall lights can contribute effectivly in lighting up aware hallway. Also consider large mirrors to reflect light and a cool white or daylight light bulb to maximise lighting.

What does the front of the house look like?

Is it down to budget? The second door won't be cheap and then there's the cost of labour for fitting it.
You already have the first door and putting a film on won't cost a fortune so I'd give it a try.

Budget isn't really an issue.

I'll get a picture tomorrow morning from the outside.

Just want something modern but that allows a lot of light in our hallway.
