Ideas to spruce up a 1960s house
Comments (35)Ha! an idea...one of our houses, the bungalow, is up for sale with Verity Frearson estate agents in harrogate & may give you an idea of what I have done to it. Its been up for sale for 3 weeks & we have 3 buyers in waiting (with houses to sell.) Its on their website & is 18 leadhall drive. When we bought it, it had upvc doors, & caravan windows at the front for privacy. At the back it had a utility room & a warren of little rooms with small windows commanding the best views of the south facing garden. The green in the bedroom photo isn't qyite as vile as it may look in the photo. If i did it again I would probably use steel/ aluminium windows at the back. I also love just one large picture window too. the doors internally, where they are not glass double doors, are the dordogne doors from Howdens which are very reasonable & add seem to suit many styles of houses rather than the usual panelled door. Mine are painted but they can be left wooden. we have another house, a victorian town house, but this is our favourite as it is like being on holiday each morning even in winter....See Morecheap ways to spruce things up
Comments (4)Hi there, I'd focus on paintingit a fab colour or if it's a small room, buy some amazing wallpaper and create a feature wall. Depending on what the tiles are like, consider painting those too..... just check with the landlord first. Then add personality with fab photos, oversized mirror or whatever else makes it your space but which you can take with you wherever you go. Good luck!...See MoreQuick spruce of study, paint colour and ideas needed
Comments (1)Hello! This room is really small and since you use it for storage/office I would not advise you to go too brave with colours as they might make the room look and feel smaller. I know it might sound dull but I@d advise you to use white all over and either have mirrored doors covering the shelves you have there or a mirrored wall right in front of the desk, that will definitely make the room look bigger. Also, use plants because they add freshness as well as colour to the room and they're very relaxing. Most people don't realise that color can be added in many different ways not only on walls...sometimes the details can't be more striking such as a white room with a mirrored wall and a really striking office chair - orange, green, etc - plants, flowers, artwork, all can used to make a room colourful. You can also buy colorful boxes and put all your dvds, cds, books in them which will make the room look tidy and neater and add style and color. See some examples below: Hope that helps! Comments (1)I sanded down a 14 year oak kitchen table and stained it with Neptune's Isoguard Oil. Available in three colours. I used seasoned Oak for a soft grey tone. Total transformation ! Easy to wipe down and remove wine and greasy stains....See MoreMisha M
