Happy new year everyone! just wanting some colour advice - we've bought a oatmeal colour bed with headboard and leaning towards painting the wall behind the bed in a colour (rest of room off white) but in not sure what will go. I'll get testers but a general idea would help - were thinking a green originally thanks

Hi avated, The biggest issue I see with your room is that furniture and decor don't match the room. The furniture looks quite luxurious but the room itself looks quite cottage-y. The mahogany coloured furniture looks fine and goes really well with the bedding and table lamps, but whats letting the room down is the colour of the walls and the tiny window behind the bed. I would suggest taking inspiration from the bedding for the rest of the room. Because the room has three windows I would block off the one behind the bed. I would paint the room a much richer colour and I would take it all the way up the angled part of the wall. I would get rid of the existing wall lights on that side of the room and just have lamps. I agree that the bedside tables could be bigger but you could also just add more accessories to that side like large plants. I would have the back wall the same colour as the rest of the room because a feature wall would only bring attention to angular shape of the room, some large artworks above the bed would work much better. Because the room is very big I would add a rug to break up floor a little and I would also add a bench to the end of the bed....

​Am loving the color, and the gold throw is absolute luxury!  It's great against the wall color. The white and gold on the bed, against the wall color - stunning. Am thinking the light fitting is a little stark rather than the luxury that you have got going.  How about one of those cream feather, or paper lights? Will be even better when the wardrobes are done. Am struggling with blue as the drape color - velvet as a texture, yep, that's on the money.  And actually, the old bedsides and chest of draws in cream aren't so bad. A dabble of gold paint, either all over or as a hightlight, to tie them in? Or maybe a blond wood style fir an update? Either way, you are well underway to realising your room. Congrats.
