Bungalow transformation!
Comments (29)After completing the design work for this project, guiding it successfully through both planning and building regulations, I am so happy to now see the project completed successfully. When this bungalow was purchased by my clients it was a poorly constructed building with a badly designed layout. I was pleased to help redesign the space and design a modern extension to the front. it is now completely transformed into a modern family home....See MorePlease help with ground floor re-design and layout ideas
Comments (12)I do like the OnePlan en-suite option but it would be very, very small for an en-suite and I'd have to dig up the floor to add another toilet, all of which can be avoided if I just leave the downstairs bathroom as it is....I have guests who stay regularly and no one has complained yet. I think this would be an unnecessary expense, love to do it but must be mindful of my budget. I definitely agree that it would be less annoying and more private for my guests to access the bathroom and their bedroom off of the hallway and not the living/dining room, so I shall try and come up with something else for coat storage. kikiamack Unfortunately there is not enough space even when making the double doors into a single to squeeze coat storage into the corner :(...See MoreFloor plan ideas for a Bungalow and conversion to Dormor.
Comments (9)The house is not for young family, boys are 10 and 13 if it makes sense. Totally we would like to keep 3 bedrooms on the ground floor. Upstairs extension I am thinking of 2 bedrooms for guests. The front garage I don’t need but I would like to keep the garage which is accessible from road behind (cul-de-sac). As shown in my plan as playroom it should actually be a gym for boys. Only to be used as a garage when I am out on holiday, hence I am not much stressed about it. I have mentioned in my brief that upstairs open area can be used as gym, what my thought was just a thread mill and hanging boxing bag. The corner side by backside garage door is the sunny aspect of the house, not fully from the back but from sideways. The Bathroom as soon as you enter the house is same size of the bedroom next to it, hence thinking of making the bathroom smaller. We would like to keep the kitchen and dining separate, except a breakfast table in the kitchen. The hall by entrance would like some cupboard for hanging coats and shoe rack, the hall is huge as well. The living room to the front garage is a flat roof hence the height is 1 brick down compared to the rest of the house. As going up and putting a new roof I am told that that can be sorted....See MoreUpdating our 1960’s Bungalow
Comments (12)Hi Valerie, this is a rough sketch about my idea. In the existing house there is an open porch, the porch and then a big hall. I think that you don't need all this space just for the entrance. I created just an open porch and then the hall with a cupboard (for coats and shoes) in front of the main door. -Bedroom 1: master bedroom; en-suite with a new window at side; dressing room using part of the existing porch. -Bedroom 2: new wall between bedroom 2 and 3 to create cupboard for both room. -Bedroom 3: reduced the size of the room to realize an en-suite using the existing wc. -Family bathroom: same size; demolition of existing storage to put a bath. -Kitchen/dining: demolish wall between kitchen and living room; kitchen units with island; new big window; bi-fold doors at rear. -Utility room: same position as existing; pocket door. If you need more space, we can reduce the garage. -Living room: as requested is a small area, but connected to the kitchen/dining with double pocket door. In this way you can have a huge open space. I think that you don't need the french doors at front, but just a big window. -Study: new small study created, reducing the existing porch. I'm wondering if you need 2 garages, or maybe one of them can be converted and added to the house.
