HI MARINA, I love your bedroom- great high ceilings. Your furniture is also nice. I would follow the lead from the furniture keeping all furniture white. I love tropical coastal style. I would put up a white ceiling fan and ikea sell some white nets that let in loads of light and give privacy. I would decorate the walls in an off white with a hint of pink in it for warmth and to bring out the tones in your beautiful floor. I would collect local art for the walls. I would go to town on the bedding and cushions for the bed. I would mix your favourite colours- turquoise, teal, with green and coral. Making the room have a tropical coastal beach hotel vibe. I would feel like I was on holiday every day and never want to leave. Once you've surrounded yourself with personal things like photo frames of loved ones, plants/ flowers etc, you will feel right at home and settled. I've loved decorating for years, and tried lots of colours on walls but recently I've returned to off whites as they are so flexible and you can change the look with coloured accessories regular. If its a dark room then reflective surfaces will help .. but maybe step back and look at the style before you introduce colour? The detail on the doors make it a bit dated for an ultra modern look, but a vivid color would change things up, where pastels and neutrals may feel a bit samey ! The granite top will cool anything down ... my suggestion is change the flooring and get the doors spray painted Red!

It might be worth looking into a stove with a faux chimney breast. Just looking at your sofa, lamps etc it looks as if you like a classical/transitional style? If you did opt for that and it's feasible to install again I might position it off centre. http://www.woodburners.com/installations/no-chimney,-no-problem.html you may hate this idea but I have a large oriental wardrobe next to my fire which houses the tv. Your tv doesn't look huge so it may be an option if of course you like it. I only know of this one which is an actual tv cabinet or you could do as we did and drill holes in the back of the wardrobe (it obviously needn't be an oriental one but one that doesn't scream wardrobe!) https://www.oka.com/peking-handpainted-chinoiserie-tv-cabinet.aspx Although if you had a fire as the focal point you may find the tv fades into the background or paint the alcoves a darker shade etc. Re rug I suppose it depends if you move the leather seats into the play room but something with a subtle pattern might look nice? Have you looked for anything else to replace the leather? I like the storage unit you've found. It looks as if your side tables would work the other way round so you could have a media cabinet for cd's and dvds where the toys are currently stored or an apothecary cabinet may work well.

I'd do exactly as Jonathan has done on the ground floor. The first floor can be re-configred in a miriad of ways depending on whom you wish to afford it to ie;- The boys and the Nanny, I'd still try for 3 bed, and En-Suite and a main bathroom. I think that whomever is using it, then you'll need an En-Suite either for yourselves or your Nanny. So something like this may work well. The loft is a whole different kettle of fish. 2 metres is okay - you can stand up in there. I'd certainly get rid of the pointless utility room and turn it over to storage as you have 3 boys, you're bound to need quite a bit. It's possible that you could re-arrange the entrance slightly and donate the long thin area over to a playroom, giving them more space to play indoors.
